Alaska Republican Party vows to recruit challenger to Sen. Lisa Murkowski in 2022

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Republican Party has voted to censure U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski and will recruit a challenger to run against her in next year’s election.

The Republican State Central Committee voted in favor of the censure during a meeting Saturday in Anchorage after district-level officials passed a series of similar resolutions.

“We’re looking for somebody else to be our U.S. Senator in 2022, and somebody who will be more in line with the Republican philosophy,” said Kris Warren, who wrote Saturday’s resolution and serves as the chairman of the Republican Party in an Anchorage House district.

Under party rules, a resolution of censure is just “an official rebuke and disapproval,” but a picture of Saturday’s resolution, posted online, explicitly states that the party “will hereby recruit a Republican Party challenger to oppose and prohibit Senator Murkowski from being a candidate in any Republican primary to the extent legally permissible.”

The NRA endorsed her in 2016 and she, at that time at least, had an A rating from them. I think Alaska is a unique contest and Alaskans are a unique population. It's the largest state in the US but fewer votes are cast across the entire state than in the medium sized city that I live in.

The Alaskan Republican party has made it clear that they mean for her to go. It's not my place to argue with them but I wouldn't kick her to the curb because she hurt Donald Trump's feelings, not after he betrayed us on Concealed Carry Reciprocity, the Hearing Protection Act, Bump Stocks. After that, I'll side with Murkowski over Trump but I wouldn't go against the Alaska State Republican party. I have to assume that they're doing what they know to be best.

Gotta go to work, I'm out.

Alaska switched to a jungle primary now too? WTF? Why are states like Alaska and California looking at the Louisiana system resulting a KKK leader vs. convicted felon runoff election, and saying "yeah man, we gotta try that for ourselves!"

Then again, we have numerous people (on both the right and left!) in Illinois who want to abolish the office of Lt. Governor. Cuz things worked out so awesome in NJ when they didn't have one... right?

>> An ethically and legally dubious race in 2010. I believe it forbade “sore losers” from running. <<

The biggest mistake there was not moving aggressively to declare write-in votes for her in the general election would be spoiled ballots and she was not eligible to run again until the next election cycle. States have "sore loser" laws to prevent LOSERS who were DEFEATED in the primary from attempting a "do-over" in the general election for a reason. Just like baseball teams who lost the regular season can't show up in the playoffs and demand to participate in the world series against the team who defeated them. Game 3 of the World Series, Seattle Mariners make a surprise appearance and defeat the New York Yankees! Yea.... NO.

They have ranked choice in the general election

Palin vs. Murk ... one-on-one

After 4 candidates is reduced to 2

And since Trump beat the left in AK, we know who’ll win that contest (barring massive election fraud).

It was done back in 2010 and she became one of only two Senate candidates who ever successfully launched and won a write in campaign. Strom Thurmond was the first.

In 2010 the Republican Party supported Lisa. Joe Miller won the primary without any support from the Alaska Republican Party. The Alaska Republican Party fully supported Lisa's write-in campaign. In 2022 the Alaska Republican Party will officially seek to support another candidate in the primary.

She was defeated in the GOP primary in 2010, she ran as an independent (and a write-in at that) against a "real Republican", and she won by 11 000 votes.

I know what happened in 2010. She had the full support of the Alaska Republican Party back then. She won't have that in 2022. Alaska Republicans have had enough of her shenanigans.

They’re gonna do what they’re gonna do. She has/had an A rating from the NRA and had their endorsement in 2016. I feel like it would be foolish to risk losing an A rated and for what exactly? Because she hurt Donald Trump’s feelings? the guy that betrayed the NRA after we gave him $36 million? I’m never gonna forget or forgive that BS. I hope Lisa humiliates him.

I’m tired of excuses for Palin resigning. Losers quit, winners fight.

Notice how Trump wanted little to with her?

She clearly has little interest in Alaska, having left the state. Her last noteworthy action was endorsing the democrat scum for Governor cause Sean Parnell fired her cronies and opposed her pet oil tax. Has she apologized yet?

Past time to stop braying for Palin every Alaska election, like waiting for Reagan to come back to life, it’s fruitless. At this point she’s old news anyway. Not on the ballot for a state office in 15 years. Her main selling point in 2008 was that was still young enough to be kinda hot, that’s over now too.

New blood needed up north.

Worse than a jungle primary, according to Pete, a blanket primary primary where the top-4 advance and then a “ranked choice” (instant runoff) ballot with those 4 in November. It was “passed” in a godless ballot referendum. I hate those.

It’s likely she and a conservative will be the final 2, but frankly I don’t see winning when every rat is free to transfer their vote to Lisa.

The best hope is a strong enough rat that Lisa can stay out of the top 2.

This will need to be the hope for all Alaska races now, RINOs will have very office on lock if it’s just between them and a conservative.

Yes. For whatever reasons, she’s moved on. The “waiting at the dock for the Titanic to arrive” types needs to understand that that’s not happening. Ever.

Move on, people. She did.

Alaska is still relatively “American”. There must be a few good people up there willing to run for office. Identify them. Recruit them. Support them.

You were right here when that garbage was going on. She was bankrupted because the system in AK was not set up to allow her (as Governor) to fight the false & frivolous and costly ethics charges except from her own pocket. The Demonrats knew that. If you’re rapidly losing money and you’re of modest means, what would you do ? She’d have been millions in debt by the conclusion of her term.

The system in AK needed to be changed so that anyone bringing said ethics charges should’ve been forced to eat the costs personally when they were dismissed. Just as she was personally forced to pay to defend herself.

At last I checked, she was still a resident of Alaska, having departed Arizona after a time there (if that’s not the case, I’ll stand corrected).

If she wants to take on Little Lisa the Bolshevik, this is her premier opportunity to do so. 2022 should be the year. If she declares, President Trump will back her.

Yep, the only way we can hypothetically win in an election like that is to find a way to make little Lisa end up in 3rd place during the initial round of voting. The candidates on the ballot would be key. You’d need a popular top tier RAT candidate (and only ONE RAT candidate) to ensure the hard D’s loyally support that person and he/she gets around 30% of the vote, and ALSO a very popular and powerful conservative Republican who is clearly to Lisa’s right. If the first round then ended up with something like Conservative GOP-36%, RAT-32%, DIABLO LISA MURKOWSKI-29%, GREEN PARTY-3%, she’d be toast

Me? I would have quit like my enemies wanted me to, left the state, and then pretended to run for President for attention. Obviously that was her only option. I have never done a deep dive into the now crusty charges against her but I would certainly bet on the woman (women lie and politicians lie and she is both) exaggerating her peril with apologists being all too eager to buy whatever she is selling.

If she runs for anything I’ll let you pick what disgusting thing I have to film myself eating. I’d welch of course but you can hold it over me and call me a four-flusher.

The good news is this new electoral system should embolden the rats and the Greens, so it’s not impossible. Green second preference votes would transfer first to the rat and could push her to third even if she’s initially 2nd.
