Speaking during an unrelated press briefing Sunday in Midtown Manhattan, Gillibrand said she decided to finally come out against Cuomo because she felt it was important that New York be led by someone able to give the pandemic their undivided attention.
“Every situation is different,” said Gillibrand, asked how the allegations against Cuomo compared to the accusations against Franken, who ultimately did resign after multiple women accused him of inappropriate physical contact.

“Because of the multiple, credible sexual harassment and misconduct allegations, it’s clear that Governor Cuomo has lost the confidence of his governing partners as well as the people of New York,” she said Sunday, doubling down on her explanation. “That’s why I believe the governor has to resign.”

Glad I work from home. Didn’t come up hard against mask Karen-ism until my father died (half from Covid, possibly contracted in a nursing home, and half from heart condition), and I had to go to synagogue to say Kaddish for him every day for a year. Still in that year, and I’m more likely to die from my head exploding in reaction to Karens than I am from this stupid pandemic scare.
She should be stepping it up and call for jail instead of resignation.
I heard on the radio this morning that Cuomo aids are calling around the state to various county officials to gauge support, oh, and threatened vaccination delivery to those who don’t support Cuomo. If true and ONE official goes on the record, this is another crime against humanity from Cuomo.
They are all lying,
There is only one reason this is happening with Cuomo now, they all know it and she is waiting in the wings - Letitia James, New York State Attorney General and she’s right out of the radical Working Families Party.
Gillibrand said she decided to finally come out against Cuomo because she felt it was important that New York be led by someone able to give the pandemic their undivided attention.
Because he hasn't quite killed off the nursing home population yet.
I would argue that the pardners have designated Cuomo as scapegoat.
I argue that Coumo made the decision to send Covid patients to nursing homes because there was a feared shortage of hospital room availability. Someone, perhaps not even a New Yorker, created a nursing home bed equality with a hospital bed, thus creating space.
Since the problem with death and uncounted dead associated with nursing homes has seemingly spread to other states, perhaps this equality consideration was provided to the various Democrat governors from higher Democrats. The political dilemma solution outweighed the medical solution.
Using temporary hospital beds provided almost instantly by the President was politically unacceptable. Creating hospital beds at nursing homes was a politically palatable measure to solve the problem
I believe that is exactly correct.
The bed crunch was real. At my sister's NY hospital, the COVID census for the first 4 Fridays in March 2020 was 15-125-375-800. I do not believe that the speed/density of spread in the nursing homes was understood at the time the decision was made, and, once understood, it was too late to turn back.
The decision to leave the hospital ship moored on the West Side empty was simply a childish GFY directed at the President.
FReegards Erik!
Do you have specific knowledge about this?
It’d be helpful if you could be specific. There are other plausible explanations for Gillibrand, but as usual we are not getting anything actionable if ya knowhatimean.
If not no problem I understand.
Hey Bert!
You are saying that this nursing home thing is not survivable? For a Democrat?
They would cover him if he were toeing the line you are right. Doubt it would be deaths of those people though.
No, I can’t say if it is survivable or not
My point is that the basis for Cuomo decision was provided by purely political advisors who may very well have given the same nursing home space gambit to other governors as wells
Thanks Bert!
