How Donald Trump Might Take Full Control of the GOP
Nationalinterest.org ^ | 3/1/21 | Rachel Bucchino

“The wave of GOP Senate retirements—some from states Trump carried by a landslide (Alabama) others from states he barely won (North Carolina) or lost (Pennsylvania)—say a lot about how unpleasant it has become for traditional conservatives to serve in the Senate. That well-regarded Senators who could look forward to serving for another [two to three] terms don’t want to keep their jobs is astonishing,” J. Russell Muirhead, a democracy and politics professor at Dartmouth College, said in an email interview.

Muirhead added, “And it says something about the exhaustion of traditional conservatism. Why don’t institutional conservatives want to fight for a Republican Party they can believe in? The key question isn’t about Trump as a personality and his effect on the election of 2022—it is about what the Republican Party stands for.”

They are SCARED TO DEATH!

I guarantee you that the liberal professors giving their opinions on the state of the Republican party have never and will never vote for a Republican.

Their concern is that there won't be any Republicans to give Democrats cover anymore.

In the past a senator like Blanche Lincoln could pretend to be moderate and vote against a Democrat agenda item because Republicans like Arlen Specter or John Warner would vote for it, allowing it to pass.

But those days are over. We've seen through the sham and have weeded out the cover artists. Arlen Specter became a Democrat and John Warner endorsed democrats since leaving office. These are just two examples but there are others: Charlie Crist, Richard Luger, etc.

Now more cover artists are jumping ship. They haven't the stomach for the fight and good riddance to them.

This is akin to liberal-Leftist mourning that President Trump in fighting for all Americans has already rebuilt a large swath of the Republican Party growing it to a stronger Americans First orientation.

They’re terrified.

The Party of Trump cannot be a majority party in the United States, but under existing American election rules, and the new ones that Republicans are enacting, it need not be to gain and hold on to power in much of the nation,” Smith said.

Cannot? Doofus Smith letting his opinion color his “reporting”. Hold my beer Mr. Smith and watch this.......

When speaking of the GOP Establishment, traditional conservative is an oxymoron. If traditional, they are no longer conservative, and if conservative, they are no longer traditional.

I guess he is asking why RINOs won't fight.

J. Russell Muirhead is a professor - and also ran for a state house seat in New Hampshire for the first time in 2020.

He was elected as a Democrat for seat 12 in Grafton "Griftin" County, New Hampshire.

He's the PERFECT Democrat - taxtick twice over, as a college professor and now state representative, and his wife [who OF COURSE has a different last name] is an assistant county prosecutor in Grafton County.

They live large on the sweet marrow of taxpayer dollars.

As a registered pubbie in PA, I've worked for decades to elect pubbies and while Pat Toomey was a registered pubbie and is retiring {Thanks Be To God}, there is no one stepping up to replace him.

I've written emails to the head of the pubbie committee but no reply.

The ranks of potential, dynamic candidates are slim and I've seen no one even mention that they are thinking about running.

My state senator, Kim Ward would be a good conservative, but she is far from dynamic and she's been in PA politics for a long time, so who knows what resides in her closet.

I like her and would work for her, but maybe it's just too early for the candidates to jump in.

“Reagan redefined the Republican Party in 1980 and his definition lasted for 35 years. The departure of traditional conservatives from the U.S. Senate and their refusal to fight for the Party they believe in suggests Reagan’s conservatism is exhausted

So author claims Reagan was a sell out, eh? The douche nozzles in GOP leadership are carpetbagger sell outs, not conservative in any way shape or form. Author is gas lighting so hard it hurts the eyes.
