Amazon . com Inc. said it recently removed a three-year-old book about transgender issues from its platforms because it decided not to sell books that frame transgender and other sexual identities as mental illnesses.
The company explained its decision in a letter Thursday to Republican Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Mike Lee of Utah, Mike Braun of Indiana and Josh Hawley of Missouri, which was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. The senators had written last month to Chief Executive Jeff Bezos requesting an explanation of why “When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment” was no longer available on Amazon nor on its Kindle and Audible platforms.
“As to your specific question about When Harry Became Sally, we have chosen not to sell books that frame LGBTQ+ identity as a mental illness,” Amazon said in the letter, which was signed by Brian Huseman, Amazon’s vice president of public policy, referring to sexual identities that include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, among others.
“When Harry Became Sally,” written by the conservative scholar Ryan T. Anderson, was published in February 2018. The book focuses on a variety of issues including gender identity.
“Everyone agrees that gender dysphoria is a serious condition that causes great suffering,” said Mr. Anderson and Roger Kimball, the publisher of Encounter Books, the New York-based nonprofit that published the book, in a statement Thursday in response to Amazon’s letter.

This is how they censor Jordan Peterson. His “civil rights for mental disorders” argument has struck a major nerve and their only solution is censorship.

People want what they can’t have or can’t get.
Not to stretch the point, but
(1) the banned book did characterizes “gay” (LG) or “bi” (B) as mental illness,
(2) a mental problem is a polite way of saying some illness in the mind, whether a “wired” or acquired - “mental illness”
(3) “transgender” is one of many identity dysphoria mental problems (mental illness) - a REJECTION of ones own naturally given physical body, in some form, from anorexia, to not seeing your own arm as “yours” all the way up to (or is it down to) rejecting your own bilogical sex.
To reject one scientific opinion - among many is not scientific, it is the ultimate act of rejecting science.
Those seeking to ignore that there are different legitimate opinions about “transgender” want to reject and to reject some opinions as “unsympathetic” and “not compassionate” merely because they suggest that yes, someone has something wrong in their mind. Is it automatically unsympathetic or not compassionate to call and addict an addict, to admit they have a problem their mind must internally argue a way out of. The deniers with regard to “transgender” are asking society to treat the issue in a manner that would be like treating addicts by just making sure their addiction can be satisfied and they don’t have to overcome it, and that even trying to overcome it is “wrong”.
The deniers, those that refuse to believe the “transgender” person can be professionally led out of their obsession against their body are deniers of professional experience on the subject and wrong to be blocking information that can actually help the “transgender” person. They are the epitome of a lack of sympathy and compassion for the ‘transgender” person.
My own view is also there is no “transition”. Every cell in the body refuses to have a “sex change”. The biology is the biology, period. What there is is mutilation of the body in an attempt to help the person pretend their body is what it is not. That mutilation is accompanied with lifelong artificial doses of hormones in levels the body’s own cells are not genetically coded to do, to chemical force some outward looking body changes to appear more, or less, this sex or that sex. Again, it is pretense not reality and the pretense must be supported lifelong to be appear to be successful. Seldom is it mentally truly successful. The pretense remains a mental argument usually never fully ended in the mind - unless they have escaped the obsession early enough to accept and love themselves “as is”.
Once again we see the alphabet soup nonsense where it is presented as a singular issue that one either accepts or hates when it’s really a lot of issues from sexual orientation to morality to gender to women’s spaces to privacy to you name it.
And it will no doubt spread to other thoughtcrimes. This is just the beginning. Despicable.

Has nothing to do with the constitution. Amazon is not the Government. The Government is not forbidding the production and sale of the book. Yet.
They threw out that part of DSM III a long time ago.
Even my College Psych professor was talking about it in the late 1980’s.
I had him pegged as a liberal, but that statement would earn him much scorn, these days, from the “woke” crowd.
