The vast majority of K-12 parents support in-person learning despite looming concerns from public health officials over the Chinese coronavirus, a Gallup survey released Thursday found.
The survey, taken February 14-21 among 860 parents of school-age children, found nearly 8 in 10 support sending children back to brick and mortar schools, most of which shut down last year due to the pandemic.

In person learning with teachers.
= = =
Even in the Bible one of the gifts is Teacher.
And Jesus was called Teacher.
So, better not have any of that religious biased stuff, like teachers, going on.
The rest are teachers and administrators.
These kids are driving me crazy, get them out of here.
I saw a report yesterday that indicated the LA schools are leaning towards opening schools to the kids where they sit in their homerooms all day while teachers pop in ‘virtually’ to give their lessons...if they feel up to it.
Public schools were already failure theater in most urban areas. That dynamic has only been worsened and deepened by this pandemic. While it was hard to believe that high school ‘graduates’ could be dumber, that appears to be exactly where we’re headed.
Guess they didn’t ask the teachers unions what they thought.
If the teachers get pay raises and have less responsibilities..I am sure they support it,too.
In the long run, this will make better citizens, both kids and parents.
I don't know, but I assume that some of these people were {are} liberals, but this will change because of the school situation.
I’m not in favor of even one child being exposed to our pubic education
system until it’s curriculum is fumigated.
One year after a pandemic that lasted a year they are a year too soon since the pandemic hasn’t officially ended yet.
Whereas me, here in South East Texas, am planning on keeping my kid home for the last two years of high school, looking at doing the K12 online school. Even here in small towns outside of Houston I’m seeing the signs of upcoming unrest due in part to the extreme left/liberal indoctrination in public school. I remember my 7th grade Texas History class, and we just celebrated our heroes at the Alamo, and moving toward the Battle of San Jacinto. None of which is PC, and I don’t know if it’s even taught anymore.
Thoughts?
My wife and I home schooled our daughter from the first grade to graduation. Every year we would pray and discuss if we were doing the right thing. We always went forward the next year.
The problem we saw with people that were against Home School is most of them couldn't stand their kids. After a year or so, we found our daughter was more civil than our neighbors kids, she was more polite, she got along with all age groups. The friction that developed between parents and their kids came from never being around them. The yearly depression we saw with parents saying "I can't wait for the kids to go back to school" was plain for us that the kids thought mom and dad were weird because the school was telling them so. Typical parents have them awake for about 3-4 hours a day and teachers have them 8+ hours if you add after school activities. When you tell them to take out the trash, why would it take arguing for an hour and then trying to punish them to get a simple task done? It's because they like their teachers more than you.
OTOH, by homeschooling, they learn there is no bail outs or places to hide if we expect them to obey in the next 2 minutes. The result is they will more likely mind your commands and do it more quickly and have respect for their elders. We called it "Raising our children". A child MUST be raised from its natural state of disobedience.
If your child doesn't respect your wishes by the time they are 9-12 yo. you have lost them and they will purposefully make your life miserable until they drop out of school, go to jail, get hooked on drugs or alcohol, or get pregnant. Parenting is hard. You must know that what you are doing is for their own good. Trusting the school to raise your child is pure folly. The Democrat party is looking to take your child as soon as possible after birth and raise them in a child care center into little socialists that will turn their parents in for cooking meat on charcoal or not recycling plastic, or whatever the flavor of the day is today. Instead of your children making you crazy, and believe me the feeling is mutual from them, Family should be only after God in their lives so you both can have a happy life when they are 40 yo.
This has gone so far that parents today can't wait to dump their children off at grandma's house and school all the other times.
Questions......How many "Spelling Bee or Geography Bee winners are in public school? How many Home Schooled people are in prison today? How many have had abortions? Drug addicts? Vote Democrat? I think you will find the numbers are minuscule.
My daughter went to college and is a police officer today. She is enrolled in college to receive her Masters Degree now. I asked her if she holds it against us for homeschooling her and she said "On the contrary, I wouldn't be who I am today if I went to public school. She understands leadership, self starting, and no one gives you anything. She is proud of what she has accomplished and watched the public school kids grow up with drugs and unwanted children. Those are usually the people that she arrests.
If your kids are driving you crazy, that could be a symptom of something needing to change or you might be paying a a high price later on.
The only reason I'm commenting on this is to pass on something I learned years ago and not to make you angry. Just think about what I've said and see if any of it makes sense to you. I watched many of my friends I worked with spend their 401K's getting their children out of jail, off of drugs, or paying their rent and car payments when their kids were still 35 yo and grandpa raising their kids with no husband. My daughter has had none of that. Her problems are so much smaller it seems insignificant.
Congratulations you are a good parent.
I was just making a joke observation.
I know parenting is a hard thankless job.
I did it too ..
