As of this moment, it’s the governor who of course is a Dem. BUT, legislation is quickly working its way through the KY legislature that would, as I understand it, cede the authority to name a replacement to the party that outgoing Senator represents. I’m not entirely sure how that mechanism would work as I haven’t read the bill itself yet.

Even if the Dem governor vetoes that bill - and he almost certainly will - the Republicans hold veto-proof majorities in both houses of the state legislature.

Well we can hope that McConnell stays in place until that legislation passes?

It is my understanding, as was explained at a GOP meeting, the KY Senate would vote on the replacement in all future vacancies where a KY U.S. Senator cannot finish their term.

I am following the advice to start making a difference locally. I highly encourage everyone to do the same if at all possible. Just show up and do what you are comfortable doing.

Who says the dam governor will appoint Cameron? Cameron is a very good candidate. Were I a dem governor, I’d want to appoint the weakest of the three on the list.
