The clamor of the cable cars running up and down San Francisco's roller-coaster hills hasn't been heard since March when a shelter-in-place order shut down the city at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayor London Breed shared on Twitter Tuesday the orange and burgundy cars will come out of hibernation this year.
"People have been asking whether the cable cars will be able to return as we emerge from COVID-19," Breed wrote. "Cable cars are a part of the fabric of San Francisco. They draw tourists, they help our economy, and I'm not going to let them just disappear. Cable cars will be back this year.

I would advise against any woman working in the financial district for her safety.
There are more crazies yelling at the sky than ever before.
It's not safe.

And pooping on the sidewalk.
I used to love to visit ‘frisco (they hate it when you call it that).
Now you could not get me there for all the tea in Chinatown.
Do the criminals and homeless need more mobility to get to and from richer neighborhoods?
“...halfway to the stars.”
They better have splash guards.
Who is going to keep the defecators off the cars?
Fisherman’s Wharf (downtown at water’s edge) used to be a big attraction and go to spot years ago. I don’t even know if it was still in operation before the pandemic.
I haven’t been in years.
Last time I went (1990’s) my group wanted to stop by
The Christmas Shop. Open year around. That’s probably gone.
Yes, that Christmas shop at Pier 39 is still there.
And each will now feature human excrement to be dodged by pedestrians.

Ghiradelli Santa’s too or was it See’s Chocolate?
Can’t quite recall.
But you did...they disappeared a year ago...
Most beloved attraction? Would that be the sh*t in the streets or all the discarded hypodermic needles laying around?
A person is an idiot if they go into San Francisco.
The Christmas Shop.
My Dad used to love that place.
He collected Christmas ornaments.
There was also a similar one in Napa Valley is my memory. Near Napa.
We’re talking the 1970s.
They really shut down a major attraction and means of trasportation because of COVID ? Incredible ...The left wanted to make life as miserable as possible during Trumps last year.. Just heard Broadway will reopen with “social distancing” . All this for a virus with a 99.9 “survival “ rate
Lived there 4 years, left in 1989.
It used to be a very unique and beautiful place.
Leftist policies have destroyed it.
A big reason I’m conservative now.
I watched leftist policies in action .
I was stationed at Hamilton AFB in Marin County...less than 20 miles north from Frisco ...in the early 1970s...
I used to go there in the evenings....now I wouldnt visit during the day...changing planes at the airport is close enough TYVM...
My wife and I visited several times in the late 80's/early 90's when she had relatives in Oakland. We loved it. It was like we were walking through the movie Vertigo. Rode the cable cars, too. Neither of us have the slightest urge to ever set foot there again.
