Sen. Joe Manchin, the moderate West Virginia Democrat whose vote the party will almost surely need to pass laws this year, signaled Sunday that he may be open to reforming the filibuster, a procedural rule that requires 60 votes for many measures, effectively dooming most legislation.

Manchin said he's opposed to eliminating the filibuster entirely but is open to returning it to the days where if you wanted to filibuster then you had to stay on the floor of the Senate for the duration, as it was until 1970. I suppose there are ways to continue blocking bills under that format - once one Senator can't go on then a new Senator announces their own filibuster, something like that. But it would mean an end to phoning-it-in and blocking legislation that way.

this is just the first leak in the dam. he’ll cave.
but, hey, we don’t have those two lousy rinos from GA in the senate, so we’re good.
To: DoodleDawg
Whatever reform they try to pass will be reversed by the Senate in 2023 or 2025.

Democrats will repeal any changes they make to fillibustering when they find themselves voted out in a subsequent election. There is still time between election day and the date a new Senate is sworn in to repeal their changes.
That IS how Democrats play this game.

I guess eliminating the filibuster makes his vote(s) more powerful.

Before Mondale the vote margin was 67.

As Push For Abolishing It Grows What's the source for this claim? The author's head-canon or did an actual U.S. Senator who recently said he or she opposes abolishing the filibuster flip?

He didn’t really say that either, he said he is willing to talk about it. The MOST important thing is to block HR1.

With Kamala casting the deciding vote every time? Don’t see how that helps.

Each one of these insane destructive bills the corrupt Democrat elite pass, due to stolen elections and unconstitutional Executive Actions, is another step towards massive secession of states that literally don’t want to be drug down into the mire of failure and tyranny. Connecticut just seemingly joined that group, whether they meant to or not. Insanity is something to escape, not to encourage. I hope fence sitting Biden voters come to that realization.
