Former President Trump vowed to travel to Alaska to campaign against Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) next year as she seeks reelection.
Murkowski, who first took office in 2002, has been a longtime critic of the former president and top GOP wild card in recent votes. She bucked her party this week by announcing she’d back Rep. Deb Haaland’s (D-N.M.) nomination to serve as Interior secretary, and she was one of seven Senate Republicans to vote to convict Trump in his impeachment trial last month.
She is the only one of the seven seeking reelection in 2022.
"I will not be endorsing, under any circumstances, the failed candidate from the great State of Alaska, Lisa Murkowski. She represents her state badly and her country even worse. I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be — in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad Senator," Trump said in a statement to The Hill. "Her vote to advance radical left democrat Deb Haaland for Secretary of the Interior is yet another example of Murkowski not standing up for Alaska."
The threat marks the latest indication that Trump plans to heavily insert himself into 2022 races across the country.
Republicans predict that Trump will cast himself as a kingmaker in the GOP moving forward as he mulls a 2024 bid of his own. While he’s seen his approval rating nationally dip since the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill, his endorsement is still coveted by Republican candidates eager to endear themselves with a grassroots that overwhelmingly still backs the former president.

Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

There is no bench. She’s it. If she doesn’t run she’s a big part of the problem. Why fight if the leaders won’t lead?
I’ll help translate Trump’s words: “Bitch, your name may be big in Alaska, bitch, but my name is bigger in Alaska, bitch, and I plan to use that advantage (bitch*)”.
*implied, because Trump has standards that he intends to keep.
Fine. And if Sarah stays on the sideline?
...........I’ve read many of the posts on this thread and i’ve spent a lot of time over many years in Alaska. In my experience, “Alaskans” are VERY DIFFERENT in that they don’t belong to any party (too busy enjoying Alaska!). A huge % are loyal only to themselves and any “big picture on politics” completely escapes most and is of little interest to the rest.
Moreover, there isn’t but one place for Trump to go and that’s Anchorage which has 42% of the States Population. He could make multiple airport hangar speeches during the 1 year or so campaign and do a lot of damage to Murki.
One thing about Palin is she’s LOYAL. Trump could count on her in any fight.
Her dad is still alive. I’m not sure she is sometimes, but he is.
i visited there recently. there are some real dumb people up there.
You’ve always think trump should take the L
Thanks. Helpful input.
I love it! This is exactly what needs to happen. Each of the traitors needs to be defeated or nothing will ever change.
She’s not going anywhere.
Here’s why:
She has already won before without the nomination and without even being on the ballot as a write-in candidate, without the support of her own party and certainly not the conservative base.
This time around, there is a jungle primary with the top 4 finishers getting on the ballot. As the incumbent Senator, she will almost certainly be on the ballot, and she could win with as little as 26% of the vote. As the incumbent Republican Senator she would also not lose her party’s backing as she would not be losing a primary.
I think I know what President Trump is trying to do. We’ll see.
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Murkowski lost her Republican primary in 2010 because of her record. So she ran in the general as a write-in independent. She was able to win because Democrats knew their candidate had no chance, so they voted for her. Back in 2010 there were enough "moderate" republicans to vote for her, so with the combined help from Democrats, she got re-elected.
The proportion of "moderate" republicans (i.e. Lincoln project republicans) is infinitesimal compared to 2010. GOP voters are overwhelmingly Trump voters, and not a single one is going to vote for her. Also, in 2010, there was no high-profile person who campaigned for the republican who beat Murkowski in the primary (can you even remember the name of the person?).
Murkowski is at the TOP of my list of RINO traitors. We need to show the RINOs who cooperated in the 2020 Steal of the Century and who are not up for re-election in 2022 what is coming for them in 2024 and beyond.
A political party belongs to the voters, not the elites. The way we recover from the 2020 theft is a take-over of the GOP from the elites to the voters. Why should WE leave and form a losing third party? I can't wait for the 2022 RINO purge, and it's just the beginning.
Agree with all of this /\
I'm just saying it's going to be a bitch to remove her.
Bull.
gotta find a decent candidate to run.
doesn’t sound like palin is interested
I think its time to have Gov. Sarah Palin visit with Trump and share a pizza. Just to talk over Alaskan politics.
I agree so is your defeatist attitude
