Trump promises to travel to Alaska to campaign against Lisa Murkowsk

Former President Trump vowed to travel to Alaska to campaign against Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) next year as she seeks reelection.

Murkowski, who first took office in 2002, has been a longtime critic of the former president and top GOP wild card in recent votes. She bucked her party this week by announcing she’d back Rep. Deb Haaland’s (D-N.M.) nomination to serve as Interior secretary, and she was one of seven Senate Republicans to vote to convict Trump in his impeachment trial last month.

She is the only one of the seven seeking reelection in 2022.

"I will not be endorsing, under any circumstances, the failed candidate from the great State of Alaska, Lisa Murkowski. She represents her state badly and her country even worse. I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be — in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad Senator," Trump said in a statement to The Hill. "Her vote to advance radical left democrat Deb Haaland for Secretary of the Interior is yet another example of Murkowski not standing up for Alaska."

The threat marks the latest indication that Trump plans to heavily insert himself into 2022 races across the country.

Republicans predict that Trump will cast himself as a kingmaker in the GOP moving forward as he mulls a 2024 bid of his own. While he’s seen his approval rating nationally dip since the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill, his endorsement is still coveted by Republican candidates eager to endear themselves with a grassroots that overwhelmingly still backs the former president.

Unless Sarah Palin has found a way to keep her two eldest children under control and out of the news cycle, she will NOT find her place in elected politics ever again.

I think the world of Sarah, but those two; Bristol and Track were a constant distraction from the good work their mother was trying to encourage. Their antics make it so very easy for a biased press to ignore Sarah’s message or take her seriously.

I was never fooled, but many voters apparently were.
In the eyes of many, Sarah will always be a GOP version of former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson.
Not true. Not fair, but the perception remains.

Gov Palin is not going to run, her heart is still broken from being dumped by her husband.

She can have any one of us.

Hello? Ok, has Sarah Palin expressed any interest in running?

Too much ‘clowning’ around. Media will make him look even more a clown.

Didn’t she lose in the primary last cycle, and ran as an independent and somehow pulled out a victory?

This is a fight against the Republican establishment. Every dollar that Mitch and Cornyn and the Repub Senate Campaign Committee spends there, is a dollar they don’t have left to spend in states where we have a better chance to defeat GOPe.
He gave his list, we should go after every one of them full tilt. Unless he slays the GOPe, there is little point in trying to regain the presidency.

Anyway, it’s all just for fun now. Cheating is institutionalized in US law now, the Supremes said it’s fine, and they are flooding in 20-30 million Mexicans before the next election.

I get what you are saying, and agree to a point. But in this day and age what good is political power if you don’t yield it? It doesn’t have to be framed as revenge even if revenge is partly the motive. It’s about framing the party and what it stands for. Does Murkowski stand for what mainline GOP voters stand for and if not, why should they support her or the party apparatuses that fund her campaigns?

Fair, and good, points.

And for other reasons it’s a tough race for Trump to assert himself into.

No.

This is a fight against the Republican establishment.

I understand that. In 2010, it was a fight against the GOP establishment too via the Tea Party.

I'm just saying that Alaska's politics makes Chicago look like the 1st Continental Congress.

Murkowski ran as a write-in candidate in 2010 - her opponent backed by Palin and in the year of the Tea Party and she still won.

There's other battles to fight here, such as the KY and WI Senate races which are far more important than Alaska. Let Frank Murkowsk's kid keep the seat because there's no fricking way she's going to lose with the corrupt AK machine behind her.

Murkowski is a shoo-in Lurker. Only way you can beat her if she kicks the bucket or resigns.

Agreed. I know he misses just being in the news. For years, Trump was the news, every day of every week, of every year.
In some ways, it may be to his benefit being unable to impulsively Tweet in rapid fire fashion. That served a purpose during his presidency, but such “Carpet Bombing” won’t really help him now.
He is not the Big Bad Wolf who’s going to come to town and teach Murky a lesson. It won’t be that simple.

I hope Mr. Trump gets involved in something more constructive, like building an Online Network of his own.
That would be a gift that could keep on giving to all of us. Mr. Carter got involved in Habitat for Humanity.
Mr. Nixon helped to open up China to the west. These are now a part of their legacy.

Mr. Nixon helped to open up China to the west.

Initially that was a good thing. But now is that a mistake? We are not standing up to China when we should be. Just like the West failed to stand up to Nazi Germany when Adolf Hitler took power.

‘Murkowski is a shoo-in Lurker. Only way you can beat her if she kicks the bucket or resigns.’

We can always vote the rat in. We’ve blown other seats b4. There may be something to be said for taking out ONE of our own every 2 years,

At how you switch it to Trump...
You’re willing to be an obvious idiot to do so,
That impresses me.

Conservatives were giving Susan Collins a pass for voting against Barrett, because she faced reelection. After she won reelection, she voted to convict Trump.
