An amendment by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to the proposed coronavirus relief package passed out of the House last week would ensure that stimulus checks are not awarded to illegal aliens living in the United States, Breitbart News has exclusively learned.
Senate Democrats opened debate on the $1.9 trillion relief package without any GOP support, and it will need to go back to the House for approval if the Senate passes the legislation.
AD Included in the package are $1,400 stimulus checks that currently could go to illegal aliens if not explicitly blocked. Cruz, in an amendment announced on Friday, is seeking to prevent illegal aliens from getting stimulus checks, which his office said would save American taxpayers nearly $8 billion.
AD “Not only does this COVID bill fail to address the real needs of the American people who are suffering, but it hands out billions in taxpayer dollars to illegal immigrants,” Cruz said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News.
“Congress should come together to pass my amendment to stop this,” Cruz said. “We need to stand for the American people, get our kids back to school, and reopen our small businesses.”
In the package’s current form, illegal aliens could secure subsidies for COBRA healthcare premiums.
Last month, Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Todd Young (R-IN) helped pass a budget amendment — with support from eight swing state Democrats — to make it more difficult for stimulus checks for illegal aliens to be included in the relief package.

Zero chance of passing House or Senate.
The chance to do this has long passed.
Good work, Ted. I hope the proposal is accepted.
Dems will go after it with both barrels.
I’d prefer an amendment that gives illegals a $200 credit toward a one way bus ticket to the southern border and an ICE escort.
Why does this even have to be before the senate? Why do we subsidize illegal behavior?
Non starter, back to Cancun with you.
Damn! we already bought new computers and monitors with the money
The half hatched eggs will have to do.
Those are the same questions I am asking myself.
Not all Americans get the checks but all illegal aliens do.
Wanna know why many of us are DONE with the USA government?? We no longer have representation in it. Foreigners do.
You wouldn’t think you would have to put this into law. It should be a given. We are not sending payments to non citizens in, say, Honduras are we?
While I agree, that $1,400.00 fine would be seen as some sort
of payment, and a could would likely see it as terms of
Lets keep it a clean slate for when the next president comes
along to try and correct this situation.
WTF IS THIS NOT PUT FORTH BY 50 FIFTY REPUBLICAN SENATORS!! ONE??? .
Trump shoudla said when president “We’re getting a stimulus check to offset the losses that state governments have imposed on you all, and illegals are going to pay for it all”
I'd prefer a Go Fund Me effort by the liberals who are concerned about this in the first place. I know the country is funding all of this nonsense with increases in the imaginary number that the National Debt has become, but at some point our leadership needs to start thinking about how to control spending on the other side of whatever cataclysmic event replaces the national debt at some point in the future.
Illegals will get money.
If they delay the average American’s $1,400 checks any longer, inflation will make it worth $50. Gasoline itself will take a few dollars more since last month.
He told us all we would get $2,000 if the two skunks got elected in the fraud filled Georgia sham election. They won.
So where is our promised $2,000, Biden? NOT $1,400——it’s $2,000.
Keep em’ busy, Ted.
Like a guy who rushes into the bar after the fight is over and forgotten about shouting: “Let me at him!”...
1) But these are children! ==8-O
2) NOW is the time to bring back Selective Service.
