Collins to back Haaland for Interior, sealing her approval (More good paying jobs lost due to anti-O&G stand)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | May 3, 2021 | Matthew Daly, AP

Posted on 03/03/2021 1:22:05 PM PST by CedarDave

WASHINGTON — Maine Sen. Susan Collins said Wednesday she will support New Mexico Rep. Deb Haaland to be Interior secretary, the first Republican senator to publicly back a nominee set to become the first Native American to lead a Cabinet agency.

The announcement makes Haaland’s confirmation by the Senate nearly certain and follows Haaland’s endorsement last week by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

The Senate energy panel is set to vote on Haaland’s nomination Thursday. Several Republicans, including Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, the top GOP senator on energy, oppose Haaland, saying her opposition to fracking, the Keystone XL oil pipeline and other issues made her unfit to serve in a role in which she will oversee energy development on vast swaths of federal lands, mostly in the West, as well as offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska.

Damn Rinos. And Manchin, who the MSM like to call a moderate, is right in lockstep with the RadDem socialists.

“the first Native American to lead a Cabinet agency”

Might not be true. There was some guy a while back, a North American Indian, had such a posting . . . cannot recall his name.

And, a “native American” is a person born in the USA.

Are you thinking of Charles Curtis, a member of the Kaw tribe. Vice President of the US under Hoover.

We need 55+ senators for that reason. No excuse for losing any winnable ones.

More evidence that we are in Obama’s third term with Susan Rice doing the close-in work.

Invest in energy. All that extra oil moving by truck since Biden killed the pipeline will be paying higher prices for fuel, making the oil more expensive.

The current issue is not oil supply, but the big refineries along the Gulf coast have been down since the cold spell and are slow to come back on line. They will be up soon.

NEXT: Oil production is up, and OPEC+ meets tomorrow. If they hold their cuts where they are, price will be supported. If they turn up the spigot and produce 500k barrels a day more, the price will fall somewhat.

One rule of thumb that works fairly well is: For every increase or decrease of $10 a barrel for oil, gasoline will rise/fall 25 cents. We are in a period of low gas prices, even with the recent rise. Oil is around $61.50 a barrel (WTI price) today. It was $88.45 a barrel 11 months ago. That price was down from $123.50 on 13 months ago. Given the present complaining I’m surprised anyone survived the last year and half.

Today’s prices are very low, drive all you can soon, they are going higher

>the first Native American to lead a Cabinet agency

Somebody in Senate GOP should remind those pushing that narrative of Charles Curtis, the GOP first person of color (native color in his case unlike Harris) to serve as VP (Hoover's although he opposed Hoover at the convention) and had also been been a very successful member of congress. To claim "firsts" the Rats have to dream up new ones.

Let’s not leave out Warren Buffet’s oil car trains, prone to explode in the middle of some out of the way town. Buffet is likely one of the giant reasons behind ending Keystone, as he stands to make massive profits.

Perhaps you can help me. How does Biden’s increase in carbon prices to $51/T from Trumps $8/T filter into the economy?

This will be the end of the US oil and gas industry, just as Obama killed coal. They really mean it. And that wind energy was worthless two weeks ago when we needed it.

It’s exactly like the way the US government “killed Colorado” in Atlas Shrugged. Collectivists just can’t help themselves.

“Maine has Ranked Choice Voting for a reason.”
_________________________________________________

Yeah, it’s because out-of-state left wing groupa poured boatloads of money into Maine in order to confuse and lie to voters.

Maine’s Second District....Trump country, carried by him twice...lost it’s Republican congressman in 2018 because of Rank Choice Voting.

Republican GOP congressman Bruce Poliquin received 2200 MORE votes than his RAT challenger, former Marine Jared Golden. Poliquin needed 50% plus one vote, and he fell short. A plurality of votes wasn’t enough in this system.

Two other liberal ringer candidates managed to throw the Ranked Choice “election” to Golden.
