The plan is working as designed.

Absolutely right.

And they will always blame Whitey for their self-inflicted failures.

Bottom line: Wherever you originate, you either have the capacity and disposition for rugged individualism to prosper or you follow the herd over the cliff.

Every time I read about this stuff, Kurt Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron” comes to mind.

Minority? For students under the age of 16, blacks combined with Hispanics constitute a majority or at least a plurality.

The way the gene pool is distributed is that some groups have a preponderance of the basketball gene, and other groups have a higher distribution of the math gene. It is the way hair color, facial features, and everything physical is encoded and distributed.

That's nature. That's the way it is.

Apologies to Samuel Johnson:

“Sir, [some protected group doing math] is like a dog's walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.”

Crippled but voting for the Left that crippled them ... dumbing down people to get clients who must have those that dumbed them down.

There’s a saying that in democracy it’s your vote than counts where in feudalism it’s your count that votes.

With progressivism it’s your vote for the progressives that lets you become and remain a serf.

> Is there anything worse for black K-12 students who want to become engineers than teachers who think they can’t meet the same standards as their classmates? <

The article is filled with good points. But I take issue with the above quote. It’s not the teachers who think black kids “can’t meet the same standards”. It’s the local schools boards, and the state departments of education.

I taught in urban schools for decades. And I’ve never met a teacher who thought that way. (I’m sure they exist. But I’ve never met one. And I’ve known hundreds of teachers.)

Now, the school board and the supervisors - they are another story. They’ll parrot the importance of high standards. But they do not want to accept any fallout when teachers apply those high standards.

Heck, we got harassed just for applying reasonable standards. Supervisors want the passing rate to be as high as possible. That’s how they get their bonuses, and their promotions. When I retired, my district had this policy: the minimum grade that you can give on any test is 50%. Kid signs his name on the paper, then goes to sleep. 50%. So now all that kid needs to is score 70% somewhere else (maybe on a group project), and he passes.

And then when Johnny can’t read, it’s the teacher’s fault.

New York City’s Department of Education recently decided to change admission into its Gifted and Talented program from a single test for students in kindergarten through third grade to a questionnaire for the pre-K teachers of applicants and a lottery system. This change—widely criticized by parents [emphases added] — is a perfect example of the pitfalls of the current push for equity in education."

Surely the parents in NYC have more election year votes than the total number of school bureaucrats up to the highest educational office in the state.

So why don’t the parents petition NYC to fire activist school bureaucrats?

Starting the petition in an election year may help.

Starting any petition in an election year may help even more.

Patriots need to start learning to run the country with election year petitions imo.

The big elephant in the room is the implication that ability in STEM MAY have a genetic component like athletic ability does.

This is the big reason for the push for equity. For instance, most women are not going to be fulfilled as engineers. I know several that are, and are dang good at it, but pushing a girl who has the ability but not the drive into a STEM field will lead to a pissed off burned out adult that has an expensive education doing something she hates.

Same if you said I could be a pro golfer. I would not be good at it and hate it too.

The Emperor is a naked fool, blindly thrashing about desperately seeking a solution for pitifully poor minority performance in the heavily unionized public education system.
Yet, no matter how much money they squander, no matter how many psycho babbling ‘specialists’ they employ, no matter how much they gut traditional curriculum, no matter how much they obscure or oversimplify obvious facts, no matter how many new ways to skin the same old cat they dream up, no matter how much they scapegoat Whites and Asians, no matter who or what they decide to heap the blame for their failures on next, the same immutable results persistently and unalterably reveal a fundamental truth they decline to face: Since Black and Hispanic cultures have never prioritized educating their general populations to the same extent that White and Asian cultures have, disparate performance should be the expected outcome.
The alternative is segregated school systems.

“The Left’s Vision Of Equity Will Cripple A Generation Of Minority Students”

That would make 3 straight generations of minority students...so why is this even considered ‘news’ at this point.

Baltimore is way ahead.

From the article—— A shocking discovery out of a Baltimore City high school, where Project Baltimore has found hundreds of students are failing. It’s a school where a student who passed three classes in four years, ranks near the top half of his class with a 0.13 grade point average.
