Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced a bill on Tuesday to have the Department of Veterans Affairs establish a pilot program that will create "veteran health savings accounts to allow veterans to receive primary care furnished under non-Department direct primary care service arrangements."
Cosponsors of the bill include Republican Reps. Madison Cawthorn (TX), Ted Budd (NC), John Curtis (UT), and Pete Sessions (TX).
In essence, the bill, titled "The Veterans Access to Direct Primary Care Act," aims to give veterans more options to seek healthcare outside the VA system, as it is known to be bogged down by extended wait times and lack of consistent quality care, depending on the location of the hospital, by using VA managed health savings accounts to access direct primary care service arrangements.

I don’t know how, but somehow this will be terrible.
Won’t pass. Congress has no interest in helping “domestic terrorists”.
WTF??? This is just NOW BEING DONE?? OMG...Republicans are the SLOWEST people on earth!
LOL! Yeah it can be a pain. In a manner of speaking. Several years ago I went through the process of getting diagnosed and approved throught TriCare for surgery on my neck with hardware at C-2 to C-7 outside of a VA hospital. Nearly a year later I got a letter from the VA disallowing the “EMERGENCY” surgery that was performed. This happened about 4 times with ‘denial of payment’ from them. The bill had been paid through TriCare and I kept sending them all the approval letters but still. I half expect to get another one soon. Did I pay anything? Not a penny.
It’s not the medical people in the VA that are the problem.
Replace the administrative and management people.
Almost as if it was deliberate.
Talk tough when not in the majority, do nothing when the majority.
Just keep fighting. We’ll be free upon death. :)
A Republican introduced it, therefore it will get zero Democrat votes and go nowhere.
I thought this was already done on the Trump Presidency. What was all the talk about having helped Veterans? SMH to think this has been done, pursued before now.
Things have improved over the last couple of years. But, I expect the current cabal to put a stop to giving aid to potential terrorists. You know veterans. 😕
Dissolve the AFGE.
Briefly, the Mission Act improved on previous legislation that states if a vet lives more than 40 miles from a VA Facility or needs emergency care or specialist treatment that will take longer than 30 days to schedule, then community care must be utilized. I’ve benefitted personally from this program.
One of the biggest problems so far for me, we don't get to choose our doctor. They get assigned by the VA and have to be 'in network' with the VA's insurance provider. The VA is not the insurance. That provider changed last Oct/Nov and the new one must really suck wind. For 'local' Primary Care, I am reduced to a walk in/no appt clinic. I've been without PriCare since last year when they started looking again for me. My first visit is tomorrow morning. Fasting Labs with no appt. Unless I am willing to sit and wait after the labs,I likely won't see a doctor. All I really need to see a doctor for is to get scripts adjusted (Low Priority). Instead of waiting to hear 'next' I expect to sit there until I hear 'LAST!'
Yup. We have one dermo that comes in from cauliforneeyuh one week/month. No outside availability currently.
We had that already under Trump, but I can tell you for fact if you use the free VA care it costs more than my supplemental does.
Pass this along to any friends who STILL don’t believe that we’re in serious trouble. Read just enough of the Pentagon BS to get the idea. The SCARY stuff is in the COMMENTS FROM THE FORMER MILITARY GUYS AT THE END.

I commented the other day that I didn’t leave the oath, the oath left me. Sad.
