Which evil empire are you referring to? I’d say now the worst evil empire in the world is the utterly corrupt and criminal USA.

Biden's speech writers just love to rain on any parade in their attempts to create their own narrative.
The Russians colonized Crimea during the reign of Catherine the Great, and they founded Sevastopol — the peninsula's main port and largest city — to be the homeport for the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Moscow has poured in more than $10 billion in direct subsidies as well as funding major construction and infrastructure projects, such as the highway and railroad bridges that now cross the Kerch Strait to link Crimea directly to Russia.

Russia didn’t invade Ukraine. No one was killed. It reclaimed the Crimea that Khrushchev gave to the Ukrainian SSR from the Russia SSR. Crimea has been Russian since the 1700’s. 95% of those living there voted to rejoin Russia. Virtually no one there has gone to Ukraine since 2004, despite having Ukrainian citizenship.
If you want to see an invasion, I suggest Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and Syria.

The more Biden tries to look tough the weaker he looks.

Ukraine needs to fire the prosecutor investigating my son, Hunter, or it gets no funds for a bail out of its oligarchs.

Stalin also deported many non-Russians (Tartars, Bulgarians, etc.) because he suspected them of being German collaborators. So yes, the raw population data does not tell the whole story.
Nevertheless, the region was majority Russian in 1954, and it’s majority Russian now. So I’m thinking that if Biden wants to lecture Putin, he should probably find a better topic.

Latvia and Estonia should be concerned; the same thing could happen there. The former is 30% Russian, while the latter is 25%...

Just enough to placate our allies. Meanwhile behind the scenes it’s kissing Putin’s boots.

I never really understood why Russia invaded Crimea. They already had military bases there under an “agreement” with Ukraine, and nobody thinks the Ukrainians would forcibly take over the home of the Black Sea Fleet. In this case, it would have been best to merely flash the fangs instead of actually seizing land. Oh, well.

"Russia didn't invade Ukraine. No one was killed" Funny, because Putin himself has admitted he sent troops to take over Crimea. Also, yes soldiers were killed in the invasion. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serhiy_Kokurin
