Why only the county level? Let Google run all levels of government. Who needs this democracy drivel anyway?

"...governed by a board ..." I am familiar with such boards. What happened here in VIrginia was those boards got away with fiscal murder, arbitrarily fining and taxing residents and dividing the spoils amongst themselves. Then after an outcry about 15 years ago VIrginia passed laws to reign in those boards. Now their power is greatly reduced although still too much in a few cases.

While at first glance this doesn’t sound like a good thing and it may not be, the governor has a solid point.
Waiting for the economy to recover organically isn’t working. For areas, like Nevada, that depend on tourism this slow paced recovery is a failure. Travel is predicted to be down 40% or more again this year. That figure is not going to get better anytime soon. So the tourism/travel industry needs to pivot.
After every big downturn in the economy we bounce back with some sort of new technology. The governor is willing to risk essentially a portion of his state on this innovation zone.
The proposed zone is for Blockchain. Essentially the new banking/old banking system that handles transactions. Ceding over governance isn’t wise though. It sets Blockchain up for their own little thiefdom. And yes, I said thiefdom exempt from county/state reach? That’s a bad idea on the face of things.

Considering the behavior of the likes of Zuckerberg I find the idea of giving these people their own mini-state absolutely horrible and frightening. Although the dark side of me says let there be a trial or two to show how this would descend into some Techno Dystopia.
