Picasso's anti-war "Guernica" tapestry removed from U.N. headquarters after decades on display

For nearly 36 years, a tapestry depicting Pablo Picasso's "Guernica" adorned the wall at the entrance to the 15-nation Security Council chamber at the United Nations' New York headquarters. But the tapestry, a haunting and harsh reminder of the horrors of war, has since been removed and returned to its owner.

The tapestry was commissioned in 1955 by Nelson A. Rockefeller and was loaned to the United Nations in 1984, Chef de Cabinet Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti said in a letter to the Security Council's president. Viotti added that Rockefeller's son, Nelson A. Rockefeller Jr., had recently, "notified the United Nations of his intention to retrieve it," and said the tapestry was returned earlier this month.

They don't explain why the painting was removed but I will bet my thumbs that a painting by a POC or LBGT artist is going to replace it.

My favorite restaurant in Phoenix, (now gone because some stupid idiot in the kitchen accidently started a fire that shut it down and they were unable to re-open) had a logo that I swear was inspired by Picasso's Guernica. See what you think...

It says right in the second sentence that the Rockefellers loaned it to them decades ago and asked for it back.

Maybe the idiots thought the Republican faction in the Spanish civil war was full of white supremacists.

I saw that but everything is political at the UN so I was wondering if there was a background story and/or why the Rockefellers wanted it back now.

Obviously, the UN now belongs to the CCP just like over half of our fraudulently elected officials and the regime occupying the Whitehut.

Ok simple Simon. But I think he wants to know WHY and doubts it’s just as simple as that.

Picasso had painted it before the Spanish Civil War.

Eh. The Rockefellers probably heard that there was going to be a public denunciation of Picasso as a sexist and wife-abuser, and wanted to get out in front of it so the value of the work isn’t diminished...

Picasso was a Communist— BIG C Communist... hence the unintelligible “Guernica” painting like all of his insanities.

And no small wonder the Globalist Comintern “investment” house of Giant Oil- Rockefellers “commissioned” the painting. Certainly NOT to say — Communists BAD.... oh no— it was anti-Nationalist Spain (General Franco). And another thing, the Communist foreigners brigade brought in by the Leftist Communist Spanish (who deigned to call themselves Republicans- the Spaniards did this)— they went a step further and named the Foreign Communist brigage-— the Lincoln Brigade. Always bring in the supposed “anti-slavery” name when instituting or trying to- the new Slavery- Communism.

George Orwell was in that conflict and his legendary observations on the MIS-Naming and propaganda is a milepost of waking up against Totalitarianism in any name. Orwell also, outed the “foreign correspondent” Hemingway for protecting Kim Philby- who was known by all as a “Brit” working for Stalin and the Soviets in the Spanish Civil war.
Hemingway knew all this— but, as he was working for the nascent OSS and then later see eye eh as some kind of “eye” on Commies— he said nothing— because the Commie Brits and US OSS were on the same page (Soviets as allies— late to the party after Hitler invaded Soviets- big surprise).

Whole thing— this stupid painting by a pervert commie, the Rockefellers wanting it back as something of ‘worth’ to their ilk, and their mega bucks fellow travellers support of the Comintern— all part of the Leftist establishment globalist State which is target # 1 in MAGA— for what is left of our Republic. Our true FREE REPUBLIC. Rockefellers have never wanted our Republic- not when it got in their way— they can never cover this fact up. Shows up all the time, see:Barry Goldwater. See: Ronald Reagan who took in GHWBush as the Rockefeller republican’s VP and one term loser candidate and the rest we all know- has their stamp on it, throughout. We are their proletariat as far as the Globalist Rockefellers are concerned, in their great Orwellian State.

Picasso had painted it before the Spanish Civil War.

The Spanish Civil War was a civil war in Spain fought from 1936 to 1939.

The tapestry was commissioned in 1955 by Nelson A. Rockefeller and was loaned to the United Nations in 1984,

Are you sure you want to stand by your statement? 8>)

No. Picasso had been working on a painting for the Spanish Pavilion at the 1937 Paris World’s Fair. After the town of Guernica was bombed in April, he quit working on the original painting and created “Guernica”.

The logo looks similar to that same style of Cubism Picasso used in his larger piece.

Never mind, I see he painted it on canvas first in 1937, but it was actually during the Spanish Civil War. 8>)

Not the painting. That's in Spain. This is a giant tapestry that copies the painting.

Maybe the Rockefellers are running out of money. Lots of grand children and great grandchildren and none of them are as rich as the founder or his son.
