Is this the way ‘criminal law’ works in this country? We have a huge entity called the IRS, that is charged with the task of taxation, collection and investigation of irregularities. This information is to be PRIVATE and between the taxpayer and the IRS.
If any other entity has credible evidence of wrongdoing, they should present it to an appropriate body and obtain a warrant. I guess the argument is that this is what they did, but was there actually a specific allegation of illegal activity?
To me, it sounds like a case of — “Give me everything you have and let me look through it and see if I can find or portray something you did as crminal.”
This is, in a word, bullshit.
