Nearly three dozen House Democrats on Monday called on Biden to relinquish his sole authority to launch nuclear weapons, in the latest appeal to reform the command-and-control structure so that no single person can initiate a nuclear war.
“…Vesting one person with this authority entails real risks,” states the letter spearheaded by Rep. Jimmy Panetta of California. “Past presidents have threatened to attack other countries with nuclear weapons or exhibited behavior that caused other officials to express concern about the president’s judgment.“
So it appears that nobody here knows exactly what the procedure is to launch nuclear missels.
This is kinda like Obamacare—they will have to launch the missiles to find out what the procedure is...

That was my reaction too. But when we're reading in foreign media about Beijing Joe's mental decline it's probably time for the Dems to quit the pretense. Their puppet is falling apart. Time for a new one.
The launch order gets relayed through the Secretary of Defense, there's no button in the football briefcase that goes directly to the missile silos.
If there was an incoming attack, the chain of command would already be primed to receive a launch order. If Biden, out of the blue, decided to tell SecDef to nuke Belgium, then the chain of command, starting at SecDef, would have the opportunity to say "wait a minute", and have an emergency 25th Amendment chat with the VP.
