Perdue will not run again for U.S. Senate in 2022

David Perdue announced Tuesday morning he will not run for reelection to the United State Senate Seat in Georgia in 2022.

The 71 year old filed campaign paperwork on February 15, but announced in a press statement that he and his wife, Bonnie, made the personal decision that he will not run again, and that it was not a political one.

"I am confident that whoever wins the Republican Primary next year will defeat the Democrat candidate in the General election for this seat, and I will do everything I can to make that happen," he said in the announcement. "As we saw in my race in November, Georgia is not a blue state. The more Georgians that vote, the better Republicans do. These two current liberal US Senators do not represent the values of a majority of Georgians."

Unless Georgia can get rid of Stacy “badyear blimp” Abrams, the backstabbing RINO governor and SoS, it is lost.

I would have preferred Collins, but I honestly doubt he could win a statewide election in Georgia. His marble-mouthed yokel act was fine for his House district, but I think he would have a very hard time gaining traction in Atlanta’s suburbs.

So far, Trump 1. McConnell 0.

It is only a win for Trump if the candidate he chooses to support actually wins in 2022, otherwise it is Trump -1, McConnell -1, Biden +1 (or Harris +1 if Biden doesn't make to 2022).

I liked Collins as well but also wasn’t sure he could win. The rich, attractive woman who always wore jeans and a baseball cap didn’t win either, however.

Both of you are wrong. Just as in the other 5 battleground states, the Democrats massively cheated.

President Trump showed the Governor the evidence and he refused to act.

Georgia is still blue. In my original comment, I said it's either "fake blue" due to cheating or "real blue" due to turning blue. So, if they massively cheated to turn it blue, it is still blue. And as to their nadless governor and SOS, Stacey Abrams runs the elections in Georgia now.

Don’t be so defeatist. That does not help.

I had honestly wondered if Herschel would run for the seat. He’s extremely popular here, of course.

Is there any indication Herschel Walker wants to disrupt his life by running for public office?

Noticed I said “so far”.
The fact that Perdue is not running is a win “so far”.

Doug Collins will be a busy person in 2023 as he becomes the Governor of Georgia and the US Senator from Georgia.

Go DOUG!!!!!!

She probably would have won outright in November without Collins in the race. She lost because of the runoff fiasco in January.

I hope nothing is wrong and that he and his wife are healthy. I hope it isn’t anything like that that caused him to make this decision.

But Georgia has better choices. I think Collins is running, isn’t he? He seems solid.

Is Herschel Walker a Georgian?

Walker for one seat, Collins for the other.

(I know they’re not both up now. Unfortunately, Assoff will be there until 2027.)

Runoffs are nothing but a mulligan for the candidate who lost, and in the Georgia farce both losing candidates took full advantage of that mulligan.

Perdue’s former seat is now held by Ossoff.

The seat up in 2022 was the one previously held by Isaakson/Loeffler.

Herschel Walker would be an excellent candidate - is he actually going to run?
