MacDill Air Force Base (MacDill AFB) is a United States Air Force installation located 4 miles south-southwest of downtown Tampa, Florida.

The "host wing" for MacDill AFB is the 6th Air Refueling Wing (6 ARW), assigned to the Eighteenth Air Force (18AF) of the Air Mobility Command (AMC).

MacDill became an Air Mobility Command installation in 1996 and home to the 6th Air Refueling Wing, its 310th Airlift Squadron flying the C-37A, and its 50th Air Refueling Squadron and 91st Air Refueling Squadron flying the KC-135. The 6 ARW is further augmented by the Air Force Reserve Command's 927th Air Refueling Wing (927 ARW) and 63d Air Refueling Squadron flying the same KC-135s.

MacDill AFB is also home to the headquarters for two of the U.S. military's unified combatant commands: Headquarters, United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), and Headquarters, United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Both commands are independent from one another and each is commanded by a respective 4-star general or admiral.

Two additional sub-unified commands are also headquartered at MacDill AFB: Commander, United States Marine Corps Forces Central Command (COMUSMARCENT), commanded by a 3-star general, and United States Special Operations Command Central (USSOCCENT), commanded by a 2-star general or admiral.

FLmacdill3

The 6th Air Refueling Wing (6 ARW) at MacDill AFB operates 24 KC-135R Stratotankers providing day-to-day mission support to more than 3,000 personnel in its immediate command, along with more than 50 mission partners comprising over 12,000 additional personnel, to include the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), United States Marine Forces Central Command (USMARCENT), and United States Special Operations Command Central (USSOCCENT).

The 6 ARW also has a collocated Air Force Reserve "Associate" wing at MacDill, the 927th Air Refueling Wing (927 ARW) of the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC). The 6 ARW and the 927 ARW operate and share the same assigned KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft.

The 6 AMW's 3,000-person force organized into four groups, in addition to the wing commander's immediate staff.

I’m not totally sure how much. I’d say about 3 inches maybe 4. It’s not a lot, but more than we needed. And it was on the ground for longer than normal. So maybe it seeped into the earth slowly and more effectively.

I remember you saying you didn’t know how or when they’d get those crops planted because the fields were so soggy. And then he planted cotton. Baaaad idea. :)

I remember that all too well. We were worried sick about you.

So you take good care and don’t get yourself in that kind of a pickle again. :-)

Hey there, Kathy.

Our nights will be in the 30s this week but above freezing. Days will be nice. We do have several wet days coming at this weekend though.

I saw that y’all had sunshine today. The snow on the mountains had that pretty pink tint at sunset.

Dang, I’d hoped the guy would show up to remove some of Snow Mountain before your plow guy showed up. He needs to get on the stick SOON.

Uh oh. You don’t need internet issues now! At least yours hasn’t gone out completely like Ruthe’s did but it sounds awfully iffy.
It’s an aggravation for folks who are just playing around when internet goes out but for those of you who are trying to do your jobs, it’s a whole different ballgame.

That would be .3 to .4 an inch of rain. Not too shabby for the desert.

Dusty was about a month later than normal with planting our fields last year because we were so soggy. Several people planted later than that, pushing their luck as far as harvesting went. It was getting pretty nippy by the time their crops were ready.

We hope he doesn’t put cotton out again this year - - or ever again. It wreaked havoc on our sinuses and poor Bella had a terrible time with her asthma.

Well, I’ll take the .4 of moisture. It all adds up.

Guess I’ll head out. I’ve got a headache tonight. Maybe I’ll sleep better tonight if I take something for it that also has benadryl in it to help with that. See ya tomorrow. Just hope my mouth isn’t too sore.

Good luck with that tooth-pulling tomorrow.
And good luck getting some sleep tonight. Not easy to do with a headache.

The rain melted most of the snow, except for the big piles, which, I’m sure, will be added to in the coming days.

Winter.

And you KNOW how Penny and I feel about winter. LOL!

Monday and Tuesday were both zoo days. Today was a little more controlled, and by 3p my “it is what it is, right or wrong” mode kicked in. Not my problem. Still working problems, but they can’t be fixed until Thursday.

I guess because yesterday was a zoo today couldn’t help but be one too. Did you have more connectivity problems again as well?

You can only do so much and it sure doesn’t help when things beyond your control hamper things.
