Texas Considers Letting Chinese Company Build Wind Farm That Would Provide Power To Air Force Base
National File ^ | 02/22/2021 | Tom Dees

Dubbed the “Blue Hills Wind Project,” GH America Energy, a company owned by Shanghai billionaire Sun Guangxin, plans to purchase nearly 130,000 acres of land immediately across from Laughlin Air Force Base.

Guangxin is a former officer in the Chinese army and is the richest person in China’s embattled Xinjiang province. GH America Energy is a subsidiary of Guanghui Energy Company, based out of Shanghai, where Sun Guangxin owns a controlling 44% stake, according to Market Screener.

Late last year, Del Rio Mayor, Bruno Lozano, wrote to federal officials close to the matter, “We believe that this project and all future projects of a similar nature will result in unacceptable risk to national security of the United States.”

According to a 2018 release from Laughlin Air Force Base, their flight training wing provides over 2800 jobs to the local economy. It also produces 350 new pilots every year. But this program may be in jeopardy due to the Wind Farm’s construction and daily operation.

A combination of radio interference, signal transmission, and even physical obstruction make performing these flight trainings more difficult. Furthermore, the project has potential to hinder access to electricity and water gotten from the local river, which would cripple operations at Laughlin Air Force Base if it were to be attacked or sabotaged in any way.

Former Congressman Will Hurd weighed in at ForeignPolicy.com, “Why are we allowing a Chinese company to do that in the U.S.? A former U.S. general would not be able to do this kind of project in China.”

Hurd expanded on the threat to Texas Public Radio by adding that, “once the owners of the West Texas project named Blue Hills Wind becomes part of the power community, they will gain access to security industry alerts, private industry insights and national security threat assessments.”

Last week, much of Texas was gripped by historic low temperatures, resulting in deadly power outages that affected roughly 4 million people. These outages are widely reported to be the result of an over reliance on wind turbines by Texas’ energy grid, run by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) held an emergency session with the Texas Legislature Sunday morning but failed to mention the Blue Hills Wind Project or rampant Chinese influence over Texas’ energy grid.

Austin has been lost for 25 years. I lived there from 92-2000. It’s called the “jewel of Texas” because it is beautiful. It actually has hills. As liberal as it can get.

This potential sale of land to a Chinese Communist agent should be banned by the U.S. Government due to National Security reasons.

Laughlin Air Force Base is a training base but their is no way of knowing what potential classified info can be taken by ChiCom Surveillance technologies.

Many believe that Texas is solidly red, but for those who live here, we know how tenuous the situation is.

After China Joe's actions prior to the extreme cold this past week preventing power companies from increasing output, and his refusal to designate all counties as disaster areas, it is blatantly obvious he is punishing Texas for being Red. If the GOP has ANY intelligence, they will continually point this out and make sure every Texan is fully aware of these criminal acts!

Yep, we are teetering on the edge and the Dems know it. They smell blood, because they are the ones inflicting the wounds.

Our schools are the same indoctrination systems as the rest of the nation. The media/entertainment industry has the same undue leftist influence here. We have been swamped with immigration, both legal and illegal, foreign and domestic and nearly all of them vote blue.

We will soon fall, for the various reason listed above but also because the GOP has no fight in them and only want to be liked by the left and their media buddies. It would take serous, strong action to stop this but not even most Conservatives who see it happening want to do what is necessary, they labor under the false belief they can still win even knowing the system is heavily rigged against them.

Such will be the fate of the US, we will become like Europe, people like Joe Biden, Mitt Romney will be considered Conservatives with an even more rabid, insane Liberal left.

Probably with Mexican labor...Immigrants, after they are vaccinated for Covid, get their free housing, medical care and probably some free groceries.

I don’t think it’s stupid, stupid implies they don’t know any better for lack of mental capacity. These guys know better and yet they want this. So while it may not be stupid, it’s definitely something.

No more wind farms for Texas! They are not reliable and need to be backed up by fossil fuel or nuclear. For every megawatt of wind you need to build a megawatt of fossil to back it up. It is insanity to rely on an unreliable resource.

There is already a wind farm 25 miles away that serves that area.

https://www.manta.com/c/mb4d2w5/anacacho-wind-farm-llc

https://www.mapsearch.com/power-plant/anacacho-wind-farm-llc/

Why in the world would we allow a Chinese company to build another wind farm across from our most productive training air base?

Didn’t they learn enough about wind power this past week?
Wind power is unreliable (period).
