Didn’t occur to Ted. He’s been away from Texas for too long. John Wayne would have done a movie around the idea.
The trip publicity was bad for Cruz, but he came back the next day and apologized.
An acquaintance wrote Beto-Bozo & AOC raised millions, while he was there. Anyone have a good response I can give her?
taking advantage of and making money off of other people’s misery is what they’re known for...
If looters show up; he'll shoot a shotgun into the air!
I guess by now no Texan is laughing at them “Off the gridders” NOW!
‘Taint no GIRL!
That’s a full growed up WOMAN!!
I suspect not. Good call...
I daresay there is a script in it, including the Mexico vacation and backlash, followed by redemptive atonement. The girls get de-Washington-ized, the father wins reelection and learns a new sense of purpose. His constituents forgive him when he shows he’s got true grit without TV cameras present.
Tough ol' bird!
Sat 75° 68° | Sun 80° 69° | Mon 84° 70° | Tue 82° 71° | Wed 82° 72° | Thu 83° 72° | Fri 83° 73° |
Well, if I had time off and we were facing single digit temperatures here, I’d take off for warmer climates too.
What was his presence going to do that would have changed the grid situation?
From whom?
I saw a funny graphic of Ted, in full cowboy get up, riding a horse, on the beach (obviously photoshopped)....captioned with...
Brave Ted goes all the way to Cancun to lasso the sun, to take back to Texas.
😂😂
On this thread I never mentioned Ted’s future races for his
present office, or a higher office.
I merely addressed what I thought was a big mistake.
That’s all I see you doing also.
Your post I’m responding to is dead on target. You’re
exactly right there.
“...and stay home to take care of your dog.”
Yep...what up with that? A real doosh move.
I’ve left the cat home alone for a few days. But never the dogs.
People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
What do you think people in other states do during bad weather... Sit on our hands and whine like Texans?
We get up, go to work, and suck it up. I wasn’t complementing the attractiveness of the men of your state, I was making fun of them.
You clearly are a bit sensitive to a smart ass comment. You’re pretty upset over nothing and missing the point.
I really don’t have a problem with Texas, but I’m exhausted with people being full of it. I’m tired of Republicans eating their own, especially to one who has been a pretty solid conservative. I’m tired of Republicans buying into the media b.s. And I’m tired of pretend conservatives, bragging about how tough and independent they are, how much they support small government and self reliance, and instead are the biggest phonies of all. If you are that upset about the pot calling the kettle black, I’m not your problem. You are
Our family supports you Senator Cruz. You’ve done a damn fine job for the citizens of Texas. We’re proud of you.
Unfortunately, that's most of the electorate.
My goodness, there are thousands of ordinary individuals all over the country finding ways to help -- and keep in mind that the aftermath and ripple effects are severe and in many cases longer lasting than "just" the grid being down.
I saw today on our local TV news an owner of a small BBQ operation: He's packed up everything but the kitchen sink (and likely a portable version of that!), water, food supplies, the BBQ equipment itself, and is heading for TX in a small caravan to help out as he can.
A water bottling operation is on its own sending a truck.
That gave me the idea to see if my and / or my wife's church could put together an effort to send a truck of bottled water to Austin. (My brother is an asst. restaurant mgr. there, and I e-mailed him to see if such would help, as he has indicated drinking water is a big, big problem in his area, at present. Water plants are coming back up, but broken pipes in homes and businesses are everywhere. The restaurant has a big truck of supplies ordered, including water, but the truck is 6 days late and counting. No definite word on delivery yet. No word back from my brother, today, either, so we shall see. I think he's a little busy: It might be better to coordinate with a church down there?)
And... you are expecting me to believe that a wealthy and powerful US Senator cannot brainstorm with his staff, check with every contact, and keep at it until they come up with ways to assist even a few of the millions of Texans who were not prepared for anything like this? We always say here that government can't take care of everyone. But Senator Cruz has MANY resources to supplement FEMA and State emergency agencies, even if only in small ways: All he needs is a little creativity and some serious initiative.
The other issue is moral support. We have a large contingent of FReepers who discount it, but is it very important to most people in any difficult situation. When tough days are happening or ahead, most people want leadership. This situation in TX represents an opportunity for Senator Cruz to show such, even if the way how may not be apparent. I would say to him "Sir, find it, or make it."
