‘Wanted to Be a Good Dad’: Ted Cruz Responds to Criticism He Traveled to Cancun Amid Texas Power Crisis
The Epoch Times ^ | 2/18/21 | Jack Phillips

Posted on 02/18/2021 3:01:21 PM PST by Bearshouse

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) responded to allegations that he flew to Cancun, Mexico, in the midst of record cold temperatures and snowfall in Texas—which has been besieged by power outages over the past several days.

Cruz appeared to confirm that he went to Cancun, saying that “with school canceled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon.”

“My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas,” he said in a statement on Thursday, referring to the power outages and, in some cases, loss of water.

2 years of BiZiden followed by 10 of Camela will render SCOTUS consideration of Cruz moot.

I’m sure any help Beto is offering involves the the federal government. NO THANKS.

Those watching on the left may see the situation in Texas as an opportunity to expand their top-down, radical proposals. Two phrases come to mind: don’t mess with Texas, and don’t let a crisis go to waste.

“Texans would be without electricity for longer than three days to keep the federal government out of their business,” Gov. Perry said, partly rhetorically. “Try not to let whatever the crisis of the day is take your eye off of having a resilient grid that keeps America safe personally, economically, and strategically.”

Not sure what was going through his mind.

Somehow he got blindsided, but not by others > IMO.

He just seems to have lost sight of things as they were.

I’m very tough on Cruz here. In this instance I don’t think
he was intent on telegraphing lack of caring for the people
of Texas. Somehow this seemed to be a good course of action,
but it wasn’t.

He is optically deficient at times.

LOL

There you go proving my point.

Of course he couldn’t resolve all the issues, but he could
let the folk of Texas know he gave a s—t about their plight.
That’s what people in high places do when their
constituents are in trouble.

Leaving to go on vacation in time of a statewide disaster was
a huge mistake.

You’re sitting in your home in minus zero degrees, and
your senator just went on vacation to a tropical zone.
Seeing this as a problem is all explained away by you as
folks who are siding with the Left? LOL

Notice that Ted left Cancun headed back to Texas.

He doesn’t even agree with you.

For 40 years I have an uncanny ability to predict outcomes. I was born premature and should not have survived and it gave me special abilities. Texas will be blue next election.

Why is it that a solidly Red state like Oklahoma gets 8% of it power from renewables and even though they’ve suffered colder weather than Texas they’ve suffered no outages?

But Texas’ non-resilient grid did no such thing.

Thank you. I would like to think so.

If anything, the solar and wind farm failures should turn
the state more red if handled right.

This wasn’t a Republican mistake. It was a green save the
planet fruit fly (individual) problem.

Gee, what was Cruz thinking?

Doesn’t he know that it is his job to personally go around with a torch to thaw out the windmills, and a shovel and broom to clear the solar panels????

And I’m sure the ERCOT board wishes that he had been sitting in on their meetings on how to fix the situation, seeing as how Cruz is one of the nation’s top Electrical Engineers.

If you read the link, you will see that the claim was not made that it did, that changes need to be made. I can’t believe people on this thread believe that being regulated by the commie green federal government is the solution to out problems.
The Board of ERCOT are greenness too, need to start by sending them out of the State.

If Cruz is responsible, why isn’t Ditch?

This is all clearly BiXiden and AOC’s fault.

I think it’s the fault of misguided policy makers in Texas.

This isn’t about blaming the situation on Ted. It’s about
him being comfortable vacationing in a tropical resort while
his fellow Texans were on death’s doorstep.

If Biden and Harris haven’t sought to help Texans, then I
would agree that it is unconscionable that they hadn’t.

They would deserve extreme ridicule far beyond that headed
Ted’s way right now.

This thread was about Ted, so I addressed Ted.

I’m up in arms here in California for what our idiot at the
top is doing, outlawing normal reasoned power systems in
favor of tried and failed new tech.

We’ll be the next ones with a catastrophe on our hands.

Texans should have made a lot of noise over what was being
set up over there. This was sure to happen on some scale
at some point.

Texas didn’t prepare for cold weather like this. Folks are angry, so I bet it won’t happen again.
Are you living in Texas?

Liberals want to start in on him in fear he’ll throw his hat in the ring. Same as trying to blame him for what some losers did at the Capitol.
