Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) responded to allegations that he flew to Cancun, Mexico, in the midst of record cold temperatures and snowfall in Texas—which has been besieged by power outages over the past several days.
Cruz appeared to confirm that he went to Cancun, saying that “with school canceled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon.”
“My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas,” he said in a statement on Thursday, referring to the power outages and, in some cases, loss of water.
“yet I find that the silence of other politicians is rather humorous...like” Oh Lord don’t let the media start asking questions about where I was during the big freeze!””

Emergency response is the responsibility of the EXECUTIVE branch. Not the legislative. And Ted’s elected responsibility is to represent the people in Texas in Washington DC.
So unless Ted can pass a law outlawing cold weather, or if an emergency appropriations bill is brought before congress (in DC by the way), there really isn’t anything Ted can do.
What’s the responsibility of the judiciary during a natural disaster? Should all state and federal judges be called home?
And if the people of Texas elect somebody like Beto because of media-fueled “optics”, y’all have bigger problems.

The green energy push is a liberal imitative that the republicans didn’t adequately oppose when it got started. Specifically, I am talking about the insane premise that CO2 is a pollutant. It became “settled science” in the green religion, so that to question it now is heresy.
