Ted Cruz has been pictured jetting off to Cancun while millions in Texas remain without power, heat or water amid a devastating winter storm.

It’s outside his powers as one of the State’s Senators to do so, so he’d better stay in his lane. Removal from office for not doing so is a possibility.

Plus why would Cruz know what to request from FEMA? Those are all state level back and forth calls. He would just be getting in the way.
I would bet they couldn’t find ONE SINGLE RAT that went to Mexico during this. NOT ONE!

It wouls also be a REALLY Good thing the media, politicians, and other hateful people doesn’t use this and other disasters to try to undermine efforts to ACTUALLY HELP.
Makes me very Glad he flew back to help since he has so much power and responsibility to get this fixed. And so few are taking responsibility. Maybe he can really be a huge help. He strikes me as someone who would do his best on this.

Cold weather is an excellent time to take a family vacation somewhere south and warmer.
Also - right now there is some down time while the dems prepare their legislative onslaught. Thus a perfect time for Cruz to do this.

One has to ask, how many trips does Pelosi make, per month, to SF and back on her government plane to get her hair done and stock up on ice cream. Afterall, homeless people are sleeping in the streets, schools and businesses are closed, people are starving.

He’s the only Texas politician that got caught doing it.
Two strikes:
1. Flying during a pandemic to a foreign country - baaaaad optics.
2. Fleeing his state while his state is in a major humanitarian crisis. Maaaaaaajor optics problem - shades of Marie Antoinette.
He *barely* won re-election. This will not be forgotten by the masses of voters who *couldn’t* leave and were stuck huddled together for warmth, slowly freezing to death in the dark.
It does not matter that “other people have gone to Mexico.” He is a leader who is now seen as abandoning his post instead of staying with his men.
So, you have no problem with a staff officer bailing out from his unit in the middle of a battle? Because that’s basically what he did.
There’s a lot of people who haven’t been heard of, possibly because they don’t currently have power. :P None of them seem to have been caught flying to Mexico.
