The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, met virtually Wednesday to discuss legislation that would establish a commission looking into reparations for black Americans.
First introduced in 1989 by the late Rep. John Conyers, H.R. 40 was reintroduced in January by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee with the support of 162 Democrats.
Republicans chose two black witnesses to speak against the bill, Salem radio host Larry Elder and former NFL legend Herschel Walker.
Elder used his five minutes to completely dismantle the arguments presented in the hearing and focused on how black people have historically survived and thrived despite difficult circumstances of racism, slavery, and Jim Crow.
“Black people have overcome to the point now that only 20 percent of black people are below the federally defined level of poverty—still too high—but in 1940 that number was 87 percent, and 20 years later that number had been reduced to 47 percent—a 40 point drop in 20 years. That is the greatest 20-year period of economic expansion for the history of black Americans,” Elder said. “And notably, that came before the Brown v Board of Education decision, that came before the Civil Rights bills of 1964, 1965. Despite all this racism, all this prejudice, black people still overcame.”

Barack Obama had one white parent and one black.
Does he pay or receive reparations?
Asking for a friend.
My kin folk fought on the Union side so where’s my compensation for helping to free them?
Herschel is a good guy. Christian, conservative, and is against all the liberal crap.
And the black parent had no conenction to the US except as a place to deposit his semen.
The white half must pay the black half whatever the black half demands from the white half so that the black half will feel good about himself and know that he has screwed the white half for making the black half a slave.
Democrats have made racism very lucrative business

......
Bingo. Well stated
Democrats have made racism very lucrative business
.......
Lost in time is the reality that King was a Republican and Lyndon Johnson’s famous N quote is never revealed as a true indication of how Dems felt about race
Good question.
If they really want to divide America, make people, who have never owned a slave, pay money to people who have never been slaves.
Seems pretty much the equivalent to sending someone to prison because their great, great, great grandfather committed a crime, but who was never caught, but the crime was later solved via a cold-case file.
They have made government control very lucrative.

I’d say both sides. His father was from Africa. Anyone in Africa today was complicit in enslaving people and selling them off.
Africa owes reparations too.
Reparations were paid in blood sacrifice, 1861-1865, the form of 700,000 dead, tens of thousands of arms, legs, eyes and families destroyed.
We owe nothing.
Liberals don’t listen to reason.
My great-great uncle emigrated from Norway to Minnesota when he was 17. He was drafted into the Minnesota Militia when he got there and was killed fighting against the South in the Civil War. He never married, and had no children. Minnesota was a non-slave state, and none of our ancestors ever owned slaves.
Shouldn't I be owed reparations for that long before VP Kommie Harris with her slave owning grandfather?
Not to mention the buhzillion spent since cra64. 💰💰💰😕
Love these guys.
