US needs to brace itself for more deadly storms, experts say
The Associated Press ^ | February 18, 2021 | By MATTHEW DALY and ELLEN KNICKMEYER

WASHINGTON - Deadly weather will be hitting the U.S. more often, and America had better get better at dealing with it, experts said as Texas and other states battled winter storms that blew past the worst-case planning of utilities, governments and millions of shivering citizens.

This week’s storms fit a pattern of worsening extremes under climate change and demonstrate anew that local, state and federal officials have failed to do nearly enough to prepare for greater and more dangerous weather.

Power supplies of all sorts failed in the extreme cold, including natural gas-fired power plants that were knocked offline amid icy conditions and, to a smaller extent, wind turbines that froze and stopped working.

The crisis sounded an alarm throughout the country: As climate change worsens, severe conditions that go beyond historical norms are becoming ever more common.

The dire storms come as President Joe Biden aims to spend up to $2 trillion on infrastructure and clean energy investment over four years. Biden has pledged to update the U.S. power grid to be carbon-pollution free by 2035 as well as weatherize buildings, repair roads and build electric vehicle charging stations.

“Building resilient and sustainable infrastructure that can withstand extreme weather and a changing climate will play an integral role” in creating jobs and meeting Biden’s goal of “a net-zero emissions future,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Wednesday.

“This definitely was an anomaly,″ but one that is likely to occur more frequently as a result of climate change, said Sara Eftekharnejad, assistant professor at Syracuse University.

Michael Craig, an assistant professor of energy systems at the University of Michigan, said the events show that “what we have now is not going to do it in the face of climate change. It’s only going to get worse from here.″

...that can withstand extreme weather and a changing climate...

It's gonna get colder? And which scientist is saying this?

The earth is past due to end this interglacial period and return to full ice age conditions. The transition between the two states can be under a human lifetime which is a blink in geological time. We have been rang lucky as a species that the planet has been long in the interglacial when it ends biblical levels of human suffering will happen. A warm planet is a happy planet , ice is a global killer billions will die when not if the climate shifts back to ice age conditions as the food supply plummets.

Winter will do that, for instance, in 1620-1621 during the time known as “Little Ice Age” (emphasis on little) when the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth...half of them died that winter.

Is it hot? Climate change. Is it cold? Climate change. Is it wet? Dry? Climate change. Are there storms? Climate change. No storms? Climate change.

Is weather doing something it has done in the past, but not in your lifetime? Climate change.

That’s the thing about climate change. It can be anything you want it to be to fit your narrative.

We are not living in the Garden of Eden. Therefore, windmills do not work in freezing cold. The quest to turn Texas into a Dem State is about getting rid of oil exploration and substituting wind and solar to get rid of Texas oil money. If a few people freeze to death in the cold just remember, Communism is atheist. Dem commie rats could care less. The object is to destroy Texas oil money.

Oh? Natural gas doesn't work in extreme cold? And, hey, to a smaller extent -- a much, much smaller extent -- wind turbines occasionally freeze up?

The BS is unbelievable.

17 Feb: Breitbart: Texas Energy Board Removes Leaders’ Names from Website After Threats
by Bob Price
The organization responsible for managing the flow of electricity from producers to 26 million Texas customers removed the names of its board members from its website. The removal follows threats against the leadership of the organization.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) removed the names of its Board of Directors from its website, according to a report from KTRK ABC13 in Houston. A spokesman for the group said the removal is due to threats being received from board members and senior leadership.
KTRK reported ERCOT removed the names and replaced them with the term, “Vacant.” Officials responded and said no one has resigned from the organization...

I read the details of that situation yesterday. Natural gas works fine in the cold, but the Texas natural gas distribution network simply wasn’t designed to work in very cold temperatures. Apparently there were widespread shutdowns because pipes, valves, fittings, etc. didn’t work properly in the cold.

What a fiasco.

Algore is responsible for this sudden cooling. Since he sounded the alarm, everyone has been doing their best to reduce global warming and it worked. So now instead of the earth’s inner temperature being several million degrees it’s probably only a couple of million degrees. We all should be thanking, or bowing if you choose, to the great Algore for breaking the earth’s temperature and to think you all didn’t think he could do it.

Last week the Weather channel said we would have rain in the morning. . .but the next morning came and the sun was out. Then they said we would get 8 inches of snow, but we only got a dusting. So why do we believe these people can predict the weather next week, must less in ten years?
