The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education approved a plan Tuesday to cut one-third of the Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) force and use the funds to help improve black student achievement.
The cuts came last year after activists protested to “abolish” or “defund” the school police department, which protects students from crime — particularly in predominantly black and Latino areas of the city, where there is more gang activity.
As Breitbart News reported last year:
Los Angeles School Police Chief Todd Chamberlain resigned Wednesday after the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) voted the night before to cut his department’s budget by $25 million, or 35% of the total.
The budget cuts came as a direct result of pressure by Black Lives Matter activists to “abolish the police” or at least “defund the police.”

Chamberlain warned that the proposed cuts would mean officers would not be able to provide overnight security to schools, would have to stop preventing sex trafficking, and would have to end their efforts at “intervention and prevention,” the [Los Angeles] Times added.
Now the plan has been approved, the Times reported Tuesday:
In a major overhaul of the Los Angeles School Police Department, the Board of Education on Tuesday approved a plan that cuts a third of its officers, bans the use of pepper spray on students and diverts funds from the department to improve the education of Black students.

The police overhaul by the Los Angeles Unified School District provides funding for school “climate coaches” who will work to promote positive school culture and address implicit bias at every secondary school. Staff to support and an achievement plan for Black students will also be added.

You can throw more money at black students but it
‘s not going to work if they don’t want to work at it....just ask Oprah.
It was learned all the programs were helping those who were excelling anyway...it did nothing for those who wanted hand outs not hand ups.
Money laundering.
I wonder how they will go about helping black student achievement? This will probably be that good bit tricky since it is now considered racist to show your supporting work in mathematics and demonstrate good spelling skills.
Why did black kids exclusively need help? Are you saying they are inferior and all other races are in some ways supreme the them in some way?
People warned the California style Uniparty absurdities would spread across the US eventually. Now it is under a Uniparty House-Senate-Presidency Dem rule. With media covering up and academia breeding new brainwashed supporters.
The replacement for defunded or disbanded police in any area in history has always been vigilante justice.
The Old West had a family, often with a citizen posse, go out to track down and dispose of a horse thief, train robber, killer or child rapist. With no law enforcement and no judges around the richest men and the toughest vigilantes ruled. Eventually the law and its enforcers gained respect and things mostly settled down.
Now it has devolved.
Why not just have separate schools for Blacks if the educators feel they require special support as a race?
Why are blacks failing everywhere in the world?
These funds will be used to line the pockets of public employees, not help students of any skin color.
I think that overall, all the kids regardless of race, are going to suffer the outcome of this decision. If your school is in a high gang activity area, you’re F-ed.
And how do you help kids help themselves better when now they’re looking over their shoulder more worried about their safety?
If they really want to help black students then they should hire escorts so those blacks who are into learning are not harassed as they head to and from skool!
According to the wise edumacation folks, black students cannot do well without the presence of white students. Having separate schools would condemn all black students to poor achievement. Culture and upbringing have nothing to do with it.
Because poor Hispanic kids are now 2nd class citizens behind middle class black kids. Not Capitalized.
So this proves violent rioting, looting, burning, shooting lasers into officers' eyes and pulling families out of cars if they drove too close to downtown and couldn't turn around when they saw people in the street----worked and worked well. With rewards. A good plan./s
