One Washington state woman is dead and another faces murder charges in an incident involving a political sign.
It happened in Mount Vernon, Washington on Saturday night. The Skagit County Sheriff's Office was called to a home on Big Lake Road about 5:25 p.m. for a report of a fight.
A second call came in a few minutes later with a man reporting that his friend had been shot.
Deputies found a 32-year-old woman dead in the driveway when they arrived at the home. The couple that lives there came out and spoke to the deputies, according to a news release.
Investigators say the victim and shooter didn't know each other but they determined that the incident began over the theft of a political sign.
Police did not release information about the sign but other residents, reacting to the crime on a local message board, say the woman had a Trump sign in the yard and the victim tried to take it.
55-year-old Angela Marie Conijn was booked into the county jail on 2nd-degree murder charges. It was unclear if she had a lawyer who could speak on her behalf.
A 58-year-old man, who was reported to be Conijn's husband, was arrested on assault charges.
Police did not release the name of the victim. They said the investigation was ongoing.
So NOT a Trump sign.
“Clark won’t say what kind of sign the fight was over and the court documents did not specify, but a neighbor told KING 5 it was a Loren Culp sign. Culp lost a bid to defeat Gov. Jay Inslee back in November.”
So the local news station reports they don’t know what sign it was. The New York affiliate then uses “message boards” to turn it into a Trump sign and the Daily Mail runs with it. Wow. Not only is journalism dead, it is rotted and polluting the entire environment.
As usual with these types the stories the media gets much of it wrong initially.
Here below it says the homeowner (husband) was arrested for assault. Meanwhile, in one of the other excerpts I posted above, it says the driver ADMITTED to punching the homeowner/husband...
_______________
“According to deputies, the homeowner originally thought two people were trying to steal his mail.
When he got close to them, however, deputies said the man realized they were actually stealing his Loren Culp sign, setting off a violent confrontation.
“At some point during the altercation, his 55-year-old wife came outside of the residence, filed multiple rounds from a gun and the female was shot,” said Skagit County Undersheriff Chad Clark.
KIRO 7 confirmed the shooter’s identity as Angela Conijn.
After investigating through the night with state troopers and Mount Vernon officers, detectives arrested Conijn for investigation of second-degree murder.
Conijn’s husband was arrested on fourth-degree assault charges.”
with the polarization of both socialists and conservatives going on, we can expect more and more conflicts.
How about the status of the Capital Hill shooter of the un-armed lady?
When did it happen that a thief was granted a greater right to your property than you have to his life?

A proud conservative who rose to prominence for refusing to enforce a voter-passed gun-control initiative, Republic Police Chief Loren Culp says government should be small and mostly butt out of people’s lives.
REPUBLIC, Ferry County — On the dusty, unpaved road leading to Loren Culp’s house, a no trespassing sign calls out a warning to “all public officials or agents thereof.”
Quoting the U.S. Constitution, the sign declares any officer or person who attempts to enter the property without a warrant “will be treated as any other intruder would” when attempting to “extort, injure, oppress, threaten, harass, intimidate …”
In case that isn’t clear enough, visitors may consider the message in the road’s name, which Culp picked himself: Goa Way.
The prickly pun fits with the platform of the small-town police chief running as the Republican challenger to Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee. A proud conservative who rose to prominence for refusing to enforce a voter-passed gun-control initiative, Culp says government should be small and mostly butt out of people’s lives.
That means few or no restrictions on firearms — Culp doesn’t support a ban on bump stock devices, which allow rifles to fire like machine guns. He’d end mandatory mask orders and shutdowns of businesses meant to slow the spread of COVID-19.
“I am not anti-government. I am anti big government. They need to stay in their lane and mind their business,” Culp said.

I guess you missed the parts about the physical confrontation followed by the attempted breaking down of the couple's door by an enraged pair of lunatic lefties.

Have CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the Media been stoking this dumpster fire?
Yes or no?
You forgot to mention all the democrat politicians that have called for the physical destruction of Trump Supporters .
Is there something you’ve found....that justifies the killing......please share.
Given the current absolute over the top hatred coming from the left against Trump or anybody that supports Trump, and they are on your property, having already assaulted you, and are now using a battering ram on your door, WTF???? Maybe your southern baptist holier than thou, virtue signaling, armchair judging self should spend more time cleaning up the corruption in the southern Baptist organization. Are you of the works for salvation side?
When Jesus was betrayed, and knew he would not again be with his deciples he told them to buy swords. I don’t think it was for hanging on the wall.
“When Jesus was betrayed, and knew he would not again be with his deciples he told them to buy swords. I don’t think it was for hanging on the wall.”
Definitely. We’re in a war to save America and to save freedom to worship as Christians.
(BTW - Baptists are fighters from way back when it comes to liberty of every kind, and especially religious liberty. Can’t speak to SBC, but Baptists before some went “modernistic” are fighters. The Baptist churches in our area have congregations where many are packing heat — CC. I don’t know who they are, but I have been assured they’re there.)
It does sound like she fired at random and hit the woman. Not premeditated at all.
But she’s a republican, so they need to make an example of her.
I wasn’t the one objecting to the shooting.

Oops!
I did what I get angry at others for doing:
grabbing a quote from A and attributing it to B, who had included the quote from A in their reply to A. (make sense?)
Anyway, sorry.
I think I may have originally intended to include A in on my reply to your post. Don’t remember right now.
Yeh! Let the Rat police handle it.
Thanks for the additional info! Wow...a wheelbarrow.
There could be an element of self defense here, with attempted break-in and harm using the wheelbarrow. Hope she gets good attorney and beats this.
Cool! Can I go to the mall and shoot shoplifters, too?
Yup,what little I’ve read about this case,if accurate, would strongly suggest self defense to me. I,as a juror, would listen very carefully to the defense lawyer in this case whereas in most cases I’d only listen to the prosecutor and determine how convincing,or unconvincing,his/her case is.
