Utah GOP Has No Plans to Censure Mitt Romney for Trump Impeachment Vote
Breitbart ^ | FEBRUARY 16, 2021 | JOSHUA CAPLAN

The Utah Republican Party said Monday that it doesn’t have any plans to censure Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) for his vote to convict former President Donald Trump over last month’s deadly U.S. Capitol riot.

“As a party, we are focused on supporting our elected officials and unifying around those principles that got them elected,” Utah GOP party chairman Derek Brown said in an interview with FOX 13. “At this point, we believe it is crucial to focus on unifying our party, working together to retain those new voters who joined the Republican Party this last year, while bringing back any who may have left.”

Brown’s comments come as hundreds of Utah Republicans have signed an online petition slamming Romney’s impeachment vote, while calling for the senator to be censured.

“Senator Willard Mitt Romney has failed, and continues to fail, to represent the average conservative Utah Republican voter,” reads the petition, accusing Romney of having “misrepresented himself as a Republican” and “prioritized his personal and political vendetta against President Donald J. Trump ahead of the Constitution of the United States, the interest of We, the People, and the advancement of the Republican Platform.”

“Senator Willard Mitt Romney has condoned false and misleading statements that have led the 117th Congress of the United States to further conduct an illegal and unconstitutional 2nd Impeachment proceeding against President Donald J. Trump,” the petition adds. “Whereas; the Utah Republican Party leadership has failed to issue a censure. Therefore; be it resolved that; We, the undersigned voters, censure Senator Willard Mitt Romney.”

Sounds like the Utah GOP leadership should be replaced, as soon as possible.

A cult; not a religion.

Mormons: I don’t care about your response. Save your breath \ keystrokes.

Unfortunately, we all have to live with your misguided choice of legislators.

Mittens is a Mormon. And, not just any Mormon. Apparently, he has some sort of senior position within that religion. There’s no way he will be censured. Or, replaced in a primary. The pubbies are stuck with this duplicitous self-serving SOB.

if you understand how the Mormon council works this is a logical. the board councils president makes most of the major policy decisions for those Mormons in politics. this means every thing in utah is the churches stance including the actions taken by Mit romney. the reason he listens is like his dad he has hopes of being the next church leader. All his positions about Trump is based on getting that position

I know what I am talking about becouse I have seen first hand documentation of this with his dad when I was part of a writing group 5 years ago. I was fortunate enough to see the research of a man who has done books about polygamy and the Mormon church. I got to see the private correspondence between Mit Romney dad and the council president at the time. the correspondence was of Mits dad trying to get permission to work on either “Nixion or the Goldwater campaign I forget witch one. the correspondence had been recovered from Mit Romneys dads secretary.

yes I know that I am bad with grammar and spelling.
