Germany is expected to become the first country to ban mass culling of male chicks in the poultry industry, the government said after approving a draft law ending the controversial practice. The measure passed by the cabinet envisages a ban on mass chick killing from 2022 in “a significant step forward for animal welfare”, the agriculture minister, Julia Klöckner, said in a statement on Wednesday.

I thought this article was about transgender issues, I did not know they killed them in Germany thought that stopped back in 1945.
Then I realized they are worried about male chickens i.e. Roosters. You only need a few roosters to party with hens, what are they going to do with the rest. Cull them and eat them I suppose.
To your point, yes this does defy all logic when a chicken is more important then a human being.
