I’ve been to Oklahoma
But here is one from one of my personal favorites:
To hades with the communist promoting Beatles.
Good evening, lightman...have the storms passed?
The original version was Australian and the names of the places are even worse tongue twisters. :)
Well, I was humpin’ my bluey on the dusty Oodnadatta road,
When along came a semi with a high and canvas-covered load.
(Spoken) “If you’re goin’ to Oodnadatta, mate, um, with me you can ride.”
So I climbed in the cabin and I settled down inside.
He asked me if I’d seen a road with so much dust and sand, I said
“Listen, mate, I’ve travelled ev’ry road in this here land.”
Chorus:
Cos “I’ve been everywhere, man,
I’ve been everywhere, man.
‘Cross the deserts bare, man;
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I’ve had my share, man.
I’ve been ev’rywhere.

"On An Evening In Roma (Sott'er Celo De Roma)"
Down each avenue or via, street or strata
You can see 'em disappearing two by two
On an evening in Roma
Do they take 'em for espresso
Yeah, I guess so
On each lover's arm a girl I wish I knew
On an evening in Roma
Though there's grining and mandolining in sunny Italy
The beginning has just begun when the sun goes down
So please meet me in the plaza near your casa
I am only one and that's one too few
On an evening in Roma
Don't know what the country's coming to
But in Rome do as the Romans do
Will you on an evening in Roma
Como e' bella ce' la luna brille e' strette
Strette como e' tutta bella a passeggiare
Sotto il cielo di Roma
Don't know what the country's coming to
But in Rome do as the Romans do
Will you on an evening in Roma
Sott'er celo de Roma
On an evening in Roma
A big deal for a boy from WV
Storms passed?
Hah!
Basic forecast for the next eight days is to expect some snow/ice every 36 hours or so.
A conveyor belt of air stuck over the Mason-Dixon with one disturbance after another coming along for the ride.
2 inches last night. Looks like none tonight...then more Saturday night into Sunday and Monday evening into Tuesday.
Wow! Got dizzy just trying to follow that! :)
Constantinople--Paul Whiteman & His Orchestra (1928)
Istanbul--The Four Lads (1953)
Visiting with the homies...sounds like fun. ((HUGS))
What does West Virginia have to do with anything?
You get Ireland and Australia in this song.
“Fields Of Athenry”
By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young girl calling
Michael, they have taken you away,
For you stole Trevelyan’s corn,
So the young might see the morn.
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay.
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing
It’s so lonely ‘round the fields of Athenry.
By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young man calling
Nothing matters, Mary, when you’re free
Against the famine and the Crown,
I rebelled, they cut me down.
Now you must raise our child with dignity.
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing
It’s so lonely ‘round the fields of Athenry.
By a lonely harbor wall,
she watched the last star falling
As that prison ship sailed out against the sky
Sure she’ll wait and hope and pray,
for her love in Botany Bay
It’s so lonely ‘round the fields of Athenry.
It’s so lonely ‘round the fields of Athenry.
Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing
It’s so lonely ‘round the fields of Athenry.
