David Ismay, the Baker administration $130,000-a-year climate change undersecretary, has resigned “immediately” citing his incendiary comments.
In a resignation letter he shared with the Herald today, Ismay writes: “It is with great regret that I submit my resignation, effectively immediately, from the position of Undersecretary for Climate Change in the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.”
The resignation letter is addressed to his boss, Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Kathleen Theoharides, and is dated Wednesday, Feb. 10.
Ismay heads out the door after a series of questionable comments about forcing homeowners, motorists and fishermen to prepare for hard times as the state pushes for so-called Net Zero emissions in the years to come.
Even Gov. Charlie Baker bristled at Ismay’s rhetoric, saying the undersecretary does not speak for him.
Ismay laded on the hot seat after MassFiscal posted a video of the undersecretary saying the state needs to “break their will” and “turn the screws on” ordinary people to force changes in their consumption of heating fuels and gasoline. Ismay described the ordinary people as the “person across the street” and the “senior on fixed income.”
That didn’t sit well with the governor.
“First of all, no one who works in our administration should ever say or think anything like that — ever,” Baker said late last week. “Secondly, Secretary Theoharides is going to have a conversation with him about that.”

It would be even better if the governor did away with the position entirely.
This is a Republican governor Charlie Baker’s administration.
I wonder if he’s related to the “Coward of the Titanic” J. Bruce Ismay. Chairman of the White Star Line and one of the few “men” who survived the Titanic.
All politicians, particularly RAT politicians, run from the truth.....especially when they utter it themselves.
So, Ismay has more in common with conservatives that you may think! He lost his job for speaking the truth! [NO SARCASM TAG!]
Such things are supposed to remain unspoken and under the covers.
C.S. Lewis: “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.” Lewis went on to explain that at least a tyrant may eventually be sated and leave you alone, but a moral busybody will continue to dream up more “good” he can do on your behalf and will never be deterred by his conscience. Indeed, he is spurred on by his conscience.
That’s an unwieldly title. Why not just call him Uberhauptmansturmbahnführer?
His real transgression was acknowledging that the game is to “break our will.”
We always knew that’s what the masks and lockdowns were about.
What a jackass. In a state where nearly every single one of the legislators with nearly no exceptions is one, this turd is at the top of the heap.
His crime, the reason he is being punished so severaly is SAYING IT OUTLOUD. He was simply the one foolish enough to be caught (recorded) saying what they all really want.
Problem is, the rest now KNOW they have to keep their mouths shut.
The number one problem in the world is that sociopaths are allowed to reach positions of power—when they should be quarantined from the rest of the population.
I hear Mars needs settlers.
Typical of today’s Democratic controlled government. Tax and spend and make the ruling elites richer.
Kodiak Island is a lot easier to get to.
It is time for us to bait and switch on the sociopaths.
Let them settle somewhere remotely so they can “live in peace”.
Then use the area for a nuclear test site.
They're genuinely sorry - that you peasants just won't shut up, take it and die.
Wood chippers are more readily accessible. Like those big Vermeer ones.
His only mistake was saying it out loud.

But then who would the Under Undersecretaries report to? It can’t be the Secretary — that would be madness!
Describing OUT LOUD, plans that must be kept secret until they are irreversible, will guarantee abandonment by your superiors.
