Staff Report – Buncombe County – 2/10/21
A number of counties within the United States have passed various Second Amendment sanctuary laws or declarations in the event there are federal laws ever passed that encroach the right to bear arms. Newton County Missouri has taken that a step further.
Newton County Commissioners just passed a law that endows the sheriff with the authority to arrest federal agents if they attempt to enforce any laws related to firearms that contradict the Second Amendment. The county also inacted a “Second Amendment Preservation Act of Newton County Missouri”.
This Act stops –
• Any form of taxes on firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition that fall outside of the realm of being “common to all other goods and services”.
• National registries of firearms, accessories, or ammunition.
• National registries of firearm owners, confiscation of firearms, accessories, or ammunition that affect “law-abiding citizens”.
• And generally, any act past, present, or future passed by Congress and signed into federal law that infringes on the Second Amendment.
On February 26th 2019, Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller declared that his Sheriff Deputies would not hold ICE detainees. Sheriff Miller barred his own deputies from assisting ICE in their endeavors to enforce federal immigration laws.
Newton County saw what Sheriff Miller and other Democrat Sheriff’s were doing throughout the United States. So they used the same direction Sheriff Miller did with a reverse mirror image. Newton County declared that any law enforcement agencies or officials operating within the confines and/or under the authority of Newton County cannot attempt to enforce any federal laws that are in contrast with the Second Amendment Preservation Act.
Newtons Commissioners basically said if liberal Sheriff’s can do it, they can to.
Liberal Sheriffs protect illegal immigrants with severe criminal histories. Newton County Commissioners protect the 2nd Amendment.
Repeal the Lautenburg amendment.
Now if localities can just find a way to do their own deportation of illegals.
Newton County is the county just south of Joplin with Neosho as its county seat. Lovely place and great people. But if the fed have any idea that Newton County would be a problem, just wait until they get down to Dent County.
Litmus test: legal consequences of milling & installing a “happy switch” on a Glock?
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.
************************************************************
And when the feds come some night Sheriff Miller will need a “well regulated militia” to come “ARMED” and help him FORCE the feds to surrender to “the peoples” authority just as Jefferson contemplated 240 years ago.
What is that? Is it full auto? If so I have talked to someone who shot a Glock full auto and he said it wasn’t controllable at all. The gun was legally owned.
I hope that this county is prepared for the influx of people that are going to be moving into their area. Expect an increase in property values as well as new businesses that bring good families and even some retirees.
During the Nobama years our Sheriff rallied people to get their concealed carry permit....I asked him why, he replied as we have weapons and background checks, he could deputize all 28,000 concealed carry holders to keep out gun grabbing Feds. Last I saw, there are now 42,000 concealed carry permit holders, and many know the election was stolen....
Repeal the DemocRAT Party in it’s vile entirety.
Reporter needs to learn how to write. Writing anything with acronyms goes beyond your readership with the advent of the internet. BC is standard for British Columbia, not Bancom County.
I wish this sheriff good luck.
In this environment I wouldn’t be shocked to see the feds
swoop in on him for making a threat.
I agree with him, but we’ve seen how corrupted things have
become
They don’t have a county dump?
Pile on the fines and watch them flee to another jurisdiction - exactly what municipalities do all the time.
Not quite sure how this would work in practice.
Say Fed imposes tax - this is collected at point of sale in gun shop yes?
So if they refuse, Feds will garnish the business bank account for it.
Also, if it’s a situation where the dealer ignores FFL or, in the case above, the FFL is revoked, and they stay in business - this might be something that puts Fed boots on the ground. But it’s not like they’re going to announce their arrival a day in advance. ATF is not going to let you make a phone call to the local sheriff in the course of arrest and they are not likely to ask the locals to detain in this case.
While I agree with and admire the Sheriffs that announce this type of thing, it’s sort of like an empty promise in that the situation imagined where they could help never arises. Sort of like with the red-flag laws. It’s nice that Sheriffs say they won’t enforce it - problem is, it’s the cops that are always called on to enforce it.
That county is close to Oklahoma and the Cherokee nation. I am sure the sheriff will find help from there because Oklahomans and Cherokee do not generally have a love of the federal government.
Legal only in extremely rare conditions.
You would be risking your life and wasting ammo.
Soon to be arrested for being a pedo.
Suicide with in 2 weeks of charges.
