Weeks after the Capitol riot, the National Guard still hasn’t left their post in Washington DC.
Nearly 25 000 National Guard members were called upon following the unrest on January 6th.
The place looks like a war zone.
Around the Capitol, you can see officers and guardsmen standing outside of a fence with shields and tactical gear. There are military vehicles blocking entrances to certain streets on Capitol Hill.
Let’s not forget that members of the National Guard were made to vacate the U.S. Capitol and sent to rest in a nearby parking garage, while providing security around U.S. President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Thousands of soldiers from the National Guard poured into Washington, D.C., in January 2021 to provide security around the inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden and in the wake of a Jan. 6 mob attack on the U.S. Capitol. But on Jan. 21, pictures and videos emerged on social media showing hundreds of these soldiers crammed into a parking garage for their rest.
“Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed,” the Guardsman said.
Guardsmen were later allegedly let back into facilities after an outcry from lawmakers.
Joe Biden has called the chief of the National Guard Bureau to apologize after images circulated online of troops sleeping in a parking garage.
Biden also asked what could be done to help these National Guard members, the BBC reported.
Three weeks later it seems they are in the same situation.

I didn’t realize soldiers were to be quartered in nice warm comfy hotel rooms. They knew what they signed up for. Geez, what would the average Civil War troop think about this harping about the weather?

Sad.. The military should speak out the way they are treated but can’t without being labeled.

Hilariously though, they seem to be concerned about disloyalty among the troops.
While doing what they can to breed more of it.
The Civil War troops had a cause to fight for. What are these NG Troops fighting or guarding against?
My son in the army said they use to conditions like this but the bad part is that they there in the first place.We’re paying MILLIONS to have them there! Nancy knew what was gonna happen on the 6th and did nothing. She wanted to use this to her advantage as she’s been doing

Are we in a time of declared war? Are the troops in DC full time professional troops? No to both questions = they should be treated with far more respect.
And just why are these brave soldiers there wasting our tax dollars and having to be separated from their loved ones and their jobs. All for what?
I don’t know man, they’re just following orders. That fact is dangerous enough, but still those guys should be able to put up with adverse weather and quartering. If they feel their treatment is unfair, or that their orders are unlawful and not to be followed, then they can DOR. I don’t know what their recourse for grievance is.

DC is now outside the Iron Curtain. We are in.
The National Guard troops are there, simply because democrats want them there, and to enhance democrat arguments that, what Trump did was/is a national crisis. Those troops are being used and abused by democrats, and they’ll be gone from DC a few days after the farcical impeachment trial is over.
It’s a very dirty political trick, and nothing more. There is no threat to the capitol at the moment or in the near future. Democrats need to create the perception that we’re still in crisis, and that’s the only reason for the troops.
If I recall, there were three controlling organizations in Soviet Moscow. Each of them maintained a standing army in the capital. The reason is each feared the other mounting a coup. So, what is it our representatives fear?
