Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington said he has “the utmost respect” for cops — while taking a shot at anti-police protesters.
The 66-year-old “Malcolm X” actor said he’s had a first-hand look at the value of police work, after playing law enforcement in several roles throughout his career.
“I have the utmost respect for what they do, for what our soldiers do, (people) that sacrifice their lives. I just don’t care for people who put those kind of people down,” Washington told Yahoo! Entertainment. “If it weren’t for them, we would not have the freedom to complain about what they do.”

Maybe he is too smart to buy into BLM’s brand of black supremacism.
Denzel Washington... too big to cancel.
It was nice knowing you Denzel.
Love Denzel. Great actor. Great person. Smart person.
There is no such thing as “no police”. As long as you have 2 or more people in one place, someone will assume that role. That fact is lost on these “defund” morons. It is good to see someone in Hollywood grow a pair and speak the truth.
I wonder if they count this one...
You can archive Denzel here on FR and he goes to visit wounded soldiers at Walter Reed when he gets the chance.
He is a standup guy. One of the few in Hollywood. I’ve never had any doubts about his character.
Denzel is one of the good guys
I forgot about those things. Thank you!
What the heck are you talking about? Denzel will still get royalties even if Hollywood or the leftist mob dared cancelled him. Plus tons of women would be outraged.
Six months ago I would have agreed with him across the board. Sheriffs and local cops - I agree 100%. Big city, liberal city and Federal cops? No way I trust any of them.
He don’t care. He’s got enough “FU” money to say whatever he wants. And he’s a bankable asset to the studio “suits”. He puts butts in the theater seats and cash in the online video companies pockets.

There are some Hollywood types that say something reasonable or commendable by accident every now and then, which can be pretty much attributed to the broken clock syndrome.
Denzel, on the other hand, has been very consistent over the years in both word and deed, and I have to believe he's nothing other than a good, intelligent, stand-up guy.
Oh? Is BLM still a movement?
Christian.
Several black actors seem like they have their heads screwed on straight.
May they lead more young black men to law abiding hard working fatherhood.
Well, there goes his career. Hope he’s saved his money.
One of my favorite actors!
Family guy, married to same wife many years.
