This is a follow-up from this first installment in Mr. Byrne's report on what happened.

There is wide debate on whether or not this is true, fake, or something in the middle.

My assessment (not that anyone cares) is if you take Byrne's account and remove the self-aggrandized bits and his weakness for affinity-bias, you get a VERY compelling picture of what likely happened.

In short, to quote LS, this speaks to Trump's greatest weakness as a president, his personnel selection/vulnerability in his second echelon chain of command. In short, Trump put too much faith into a clearly feeble Rudy (who wasn't cut out for the job, and frankly looked on TV to be only few years behind Biden on the Pathway to "huh?") and an incompetent set of bureaucrats.

I understand completely the compulsion, especially at the Executive level, to put trust chiefly in the guys from the neighborhood. It happens all the time: in bands (Townshend didn't want to fire Moon - Daltrey did - even though he was a mess at the end) and sports (the Phillies stayed with their ace relief pitcher in the WS against Toronto even though the Blue Jays ate him alive) and corporations always see new C-suite people lay waste to existing management in favor of buddies. It's a thing.

Yes, there was a LOT of bad things that happened. But if this is even half-right, the enemy was also within.

We don’t need this to demonstrate the enemy being within; that was proven after January 6 with the big secret “certification”.

Someone will publish a book on what really happened. Either Sid Powell or Lin Wood, may before Trump does. Just author it as “anonymous”. I’m sure Miller or Pompeo, knew firsthand on what really happened, but I doubt they’ll spill.

I agree. Sometimes PDJT’s penchant for loyalty to friends, an admirable characteristic in my opinion, could act in his disfavor.

But he is not a tragic figure and never will be. That though seems to be the cut of Mr. Byrne’s jib. I disagree.

We will be seeing and hearing a lot more from President Trump in the future. And now there are many thousands if not millions of Trumps. He has become legion, and what Biden and Pelosi now do is assuring that will increase.

This fact was not mentioned by Mr. Byrne. A YUGE oversight.

Yeah, I'm not saying this is true or false either.

But one thing I do believe:

Trump had bad legal advice and traitors on the White House.

Meadows, are you listening?

Thanks for posting this. I have no reason to disbelieve this. Way too many saboteurs around the President looking out for #1 and not the President or the nation. This Cipollone character is vile and WTF happened to Mark Meadows ?

I found the 3rd part very moving, and I must say I love President Trump, even if he is pictured (probably accurately) as being less than omniscient and less than omnipotent.

Here is what I concluded.

It is not possible for a President to succeed when his own party opposes him. This seems to be ridiculously obvious, except that no one expected this to be the case in our wildest imagination. That, and we expected Trump to circumvent the usual power structures, which he did not.

IMO Trump reasonably thought he would make peace with the party on a personal basis, and did not realize that was impossible. He could only take one of two paths from the very start, make peace or blow things up. And in choosing peace he chose his own futility.

I am not sure he had any other choice, realistically. His own party was at the very least “leveraged” by dark forces, or simply turned off by him to soulful degree.

Turns out McConnell held all the cards. In effect, McConnell agreed to not publicly embarrass Trump, and Trump agreed to put McConnell in charge of personnel.

And the personnel were the constant obstacles. And we now have four John Roberts on the SC.

I do NOT blame Trump. He was a great President despite his impossible circumstances.
