Velma Farlin is 104 years old.
Recently, she contracted the coronavirus.
She beat it.
“You know, the Lord is a healer of sickness,” she said Thursday as she sat in her room at Wellspring Meadows Assisted Living facility, the place she has called home for about seven years.
While COVID-19 is especially dangerous, even fatal, to the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, Farlin said she was never scared after learning she had it. She said it left her weary and affected her sense of smell for several days, but otherwise, it didn’t hit her too hard.
And for that, Farlin is thankful.
“Amen,” she said.
Her recovery could be that she has long been dedicated to staying physically and mentally active, reading, and maintaining a positive outlook.
She said she didn’t really do anything differently after being diagnosed with the coronavirus. Her days usually involve reading, resting, praying and eating, which is what she continued to do.
“I had a lot of prayer behind me,” she said. “I give the Lord credit for it all.”
Underneath that was a Bible, passed down from her mother, Effie. She reads her well-marked Bible daily, with Deuteronomy and Joshua among her favorites.
“I couldn’t live without my Bible," She said.
She is confident that prayers made the difference in her overcoming the coronavirus. She encourages others to pray when they need help.
“I talked to my friends and they prayed for me,” she said. “I was covered with prayer. I know I had a lot of prayer.”

If you're inclined, maybe get a nice card for Velma and surprise her (she didn't ask for cards). I'm sure a nice card from FReepers would put a sparkle in her day. You can write to her at:

God Bless you Velma, that’s a name you don’t hear too often these days.
At age 104, she still had a sense of smell to lose?!
It's as though she had complained, "Aside from no longer being able to perform cartwheels, I'm now back to normal."
Regards,
AND she still has her eyesight and is reading. That is amazing.
I’m doing a lot of genealogical research as far back as 1700 and lots from around the time Velma was born. All the old given names bring back memories of departed relatives. But I never did know a Velma (lots of Maudes and Gertrudes, though).
There there is hope for Captain Tom in the UK. He is young than her..by a couple of years.
My 76-year old neighbor beat it. No vaccines crap. Told us it was for faggots. “If I die, I die”..
Guess what? He didn’t and just slept it off for 3 days. He even wrote his will to his family just in case. This was back in April at the height of the lockdowns, and the county hospital sent him an email (?) apologizing for not giving him a bed.
WTG Velma!
BTW, in case you don't remember, Hayden Lake Idaho was (is?) a skin head hangout.
Hayden lake is the upper class part. No skin heads in Idaho for over 12-15 years. But you can just keep on repeating that, because we don’t need more people moving here.
Thank you for posting, and for her address.
May God CONTINUE to bless Velma! 🙏🏻💖
My maternal gramma would be 123 years old and my paternal grandmother would be 150 years old exactly. We’re all gonna die of something.
Praise the Lord.
My 95 year old neighbor had it and beat it. She’s a real hoot.
Nice; God bless her.
It would be a treasure to meet her. I’d ask her to pray for me!

A fiend of mine’s mother is 100. She beat it last week. My mother in Law has a friend who’s 96. She nailed it too. Her first meal-Taco’s
BTW, I was at Hayden Lake looking at property once.
The "high class part" was dumping their sewage in and getting their water from the lake.
There were no skin heads there at that time.
