(CNN) Former President Donald Trump's five impeachment defense attorneys have left a little more than a week before his trial is set to begin, according to people familiar with the case, amid a disagreement over his legal strategy.
It was a dramatic development in the second impeachment trial for Trump, who has struggled to find lawyers willing to take his case. And now, with legal briefs due next week and a trial set to begin only days later, Trump is clinging to his election fraud charade and suddenly finds himself without legal representation.

Your arguments overall are pretty much the same as mine. THIS, however, would be devastating to the Republican Party should they actually go through with it.
I can't imagine that a conviction by secret ballot wouldn't have serious Constitutional implications, and it would tar the party overall as corrupt (we already know that, but still) and likely consign it to the dustbin of history. I can't imagine most serious GOP voters casting a ballot for the party that took that path ever again.
I know I wouldn't...
And how many "not guilty" votes do you believe that argument could win?
“President Donald J. Trump, please find some good CONSERVATIVE thinkers. And hire them.”
MARK LEVIN COMES TO MIND, JONATHAN TURLEY, EVEN DERSCH....
Nonsense.
Any competent lawyer knows that allowing election fraud as a defense is equivalent in this forum to his client pleading guilty, any lawyer who would allow it SHOULD have his career ruined.
I believe it is in Trump’s best interests to explain why he took the unprecedented step of showing up to make that speech to the crowd in the first place.
‘
Don’t fall for the Media BS about keeping it short and succinct. They want Trump to go away.
Bring up Russia and the persecution and the Russia Conspiracy theories.
Bring it all up - and they will deny Trump witnesses and that will go a long way to showing what they are about.
Bring up Impeachment being used as a Political weapon. Bring up Camel Harris urging and funding the Riots. Air that shtt out!
‘
They're finished anyway.
And the Democrats suddenly started talking about wrapping the whole thing up and getting it over with as quickly as possible. They knew this trial was a political loser.
But I guess they didn't count on Trump snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
“See Jim’s memo of 1/24/21”
I know.
I struggled with how to describe the defense of election fraud to a charge of inciting insurrection, but it is so “in your face” and so certain to lead to disaster that I couldn’t come up with something better.
It does no good to prepare when is facing a kangaroo court. The outcome is pre determined.
‘
This isn’t a real criminal defense trial. It’s a Political Exercise.
Drag it out, expose their butts. Demonstrator Leahy is a Political Hack,
Russia, Russia, Russia.
Half the Senators are on record loving and embracing Antifa Riots.
Throw in everything and the Kitchen sink.
UPDATE: Trump Just Flipped The Script On The Impeachment Plan
A person familiar with the departures told CNN that Trump wanted the attorneys to argue there was mass election fraud and that the election was stolen from him rather than focus on the legality of convicting a president after he’s left office. Trump was not receptive to the discussions about how they should proceed in that regard.

The procedure and the politics here are one and the same.
You are incorrect. Trump can and should argue ALL the facts. First that the whole trial is unconstitutional. Second that his speech in no way incited an insurrection. And lastly according to the article of impeachment part of the incitement was his months of “lies” about election fraud. So yes he needs lawyers to argue that there are facts that such election irregularities did occur and he was not lying.
Some MDs are also lawyers. Are you one of them?
Some places offer joint MD/JD programs.
This was Linda Graham's pet team straight out of Hooterville SC. These were criminal law attorneys not Constitutional law attorneys. Butch Bowers was Mark Sanford's lawyer. Buh-bye. They all failed the audition.
Of course, the theory of the case will be to assert the bald-faced unconstitutionality of this banana tribunal. Trump just wants to know if these people are congnizant of the real purposes of the trial and if they have the panache to do both -- beat PeloSchumer's banana court like a red-headed stepchild and assert Xiden's puppet-state installation fraud.
And old Gloria Whoreger's MSM screech is backladen with fear that Trump will beat the rap even if he does nothing at all, because Rand has already taken the damn vote!
Who cares?
The whole thing is pure horse shit, and there is not a chance in hell that President Trump will be convicted.
I could get one of my ex-lawyers {long since disbarred} and she could win this case without using any of her persuasive methods.
She was very good, but, unorthodox.
People are forgetting an important point here. The strategy to fight this case almost certainly changed after 45 Republicans voted in favor of Rand Paul’s motion to have the impeachment declared unconstitutional. Granted, there’s nothing that prevents any of those 45 from changing their minds and voting to convict, but after seeing GOP House leader Kevin McCarthy crawl from California to visit Trump in Florida I think the exact opposite is the case.
You’re sharp and analyze things well. Which of these two scenarios do you think is more likely to happen?
1. Trump is convicted in the Senate trial.
2. Lizard Cheney is pushed out of office by the GOP — either by resigning or losing her 2022 primary.
