(CNN) Former President Donald Trump's five impeachment defense attorneys have left a little more than a week before his trial is set to begin, according to people familiar with the case, amid a disagreement over his legal strategy.
It was a dramatic development in the second impeachment trial for Trump, who has struggled to find lawyers willing to take his case. And now, with legal briefs due next week and a trial set to begin only days later, Trump is clinging to his election fraud charade and suddenly finds himself without legal representation.

PDJT’s instincts on POLICY were absolutely great. His hiring’s were recommendations from other republicans or chief of staff, because Trump was never a DC insider. He just did not know swamp people well. For example FBI director Wray was recommended by Chris Christie.
Good points in your post!
” I wouldn’t read/watch the Communist News Network if you paid me.”
I’m thrilled I will no longer see their trash in the airports!
And the far left will remember the $2000 Biden promise. He will OK $1400 more, but they will claim he promised $2000 MORE. They never really liked Biden in the first place.
If that is his goal, he had better make a much more impressive showing of evidence in the Senate than he made in the courts after the election. Otherwise, the result will be to discredit and undermine his own supporters, and probably convince a good number of Republican senators to change their minds and vote to convict.
I actually think McConnell’s spokeswoman’s view is at least as likely: Trump dismissed his expensive lawyers because the outcome of the trial is no longer in doubt and he doesn’t need them.
He did the exact same thing after the election. Within a couple weeks, he fired his professional election lawyers and replaced them with small-time activist lawyers and Giuliani. Conventional wisdom was that they withdrew due to harassment, but I don’t believe it. Instead, I think it was either: (1) A disagreement over strategy because the lawyers weren’t willing to pursue fraud allegations without evidence; or (2) He didn’t want to spend big-firm lawyer money after it quickly became clear that litigation was futile, and instead only spent what he needed to in order to put on a show. Based on their litigation strategy (such as it was), I tend to think it was the latter.
Wouldn't that be something. Wouldn't that really be something. In that scenario, I would sell asap and move to Boerne / Fair Oaks.
If the law says you can only impeach a president in office and Congress insists on an impeachment of Trump. Then they are insisting that Trump is the lawful President and Xiden an ursurper.
Gloria Booger.
Gloria Booger.
Which is what they did. Trump was impeached on January 18,2021.
What is happening now is the Senate is trying the impeachment per Article I, section 4: "The Senate shall have the power to try ALL impeachments".
And, by the way, there is no law which says what you claim.
Trump should not even be wasting his breath let alone his money on lawyers speaking before TRAITORS in the process of supporting a CRIMINAL administration.
It’s all an EFFING JOKE!
Not sure what Trump hopes to accomplish by legitimizing ANYTHING that happens in the senate right now.
Trump should not send anyone, nor even reply to Senate counsel. Just issue a single statement saying the trial is illegal and illegitimate and makes a mockery of the Constitution. Period.

But hey, you can get some of what you like at BetFair where there are long odds for 55+; and where I bought "No" at even money before Rand's vote drove it down to 1-10.
Sekulow isn't getting within a mile of this mess. He knows that Biden is the winner, regardless of the methods used. It would be a futile effort to pursue election fraud in this venue, and he doesn't want to undego a mental evaluation like Lin Wood is facing.
A prediction that if Lin Wood is his attorney, that President Trump will be convicted.
Wood has done an incredible amount of 'jackassin and has not provided evidence that he claims he has or he knows of.
Also, the lawyers wanted to have a job and not be disappeared after the trial.
Kind of like how the Washington Times is saying that Trump shall not have a presidential library.
Trump needs to focus on constitutionality of trying a former President and make House RATS look like the fools they are in public.
Unless and until they can prove Dominion was flipping votes, they need to focus on the fraudulent mail in voting scheme by making sure GOP controlled legislation's in WI, PA, AZ and GA make mass mailing voting illegal even if Governor declares emergency. As for Dominion states can make sure their contracts with Dominion include clauses and IT protections monitored by state IT specialists. None of that has anything to do with the impeachment.
One of the articles of impeachment sticking point is that Trump lied about election fraud. That’s a opening and if he’s not allowed to argue an article of impeachment then he can exposed the fraud the whole case against him is. He needs to go for the jugular
“ He needs to go for the jugular”
How, exactly, is bringing irrelevant allegations into the defense strategy in this matter “going for the jugular”?
It’s more like jumping off a cliff.
