Well he bought it for 10 million and now it’s worth 160 million. I hope he wouldn’t raze it to the ground, it’s glorious.
I live about 75 miles away. One day I went down to Worth Avenue where a handkerchief costs $100. I spoke to a woman in the linen shop there. She had lived there her whole life. She said that it was hard with all the security and the planes not being able to land when they knew that Donald Trump is coming to town. The amount of traffic people on the streets waving at him etc. disrupt the town.
But she also said that when Marjorie Post gave Mar-a-Lago to the federal government as a winter White House, the federal government could not keep it up and they were very worried about security. They said that it could not be secured. Which makes me worry about the safety of our former president.
Because it is between the river and the ocean I guess it is very hard to secure even for Secret Service. We have seen two Chinese women breach security already. And Nancy is trying to take his Secret Service away.

President Trump will simply ignore this harassment.

But he will contribute mightily to this idjit's opponent in the next election.

That was funny how he handled the flag thing by building a mound and the flag stayed the same height.

I guess Trump could always close Mar-a-Lago, raze the facilities to the ground, and reopen it in another friendlier county.

George Lucas is a big lib but he came up with a beautiful solution for situations like this. He has a huge ranch in California where he lives and works. He wanted to build a studio so he could film there too but the local politicians didn't want him to so they pulled some zoning stuff on him to block it. So Lucas said he'd develop low income housing on the land instead. THAT got the snobs to rethink their opposition to the studio.

So if Trump is foced to vacate Mar-A-LAgo he ought to convert it into a massive low income housing project.

I’m pretty sure he signed a deal that the property would never be used as a permanent residence.

THAT is an indication of how much the occupying regime is HIDING.

I don’t know why you call it an occupying regime. It’s not as if they put up razor wire fencing around the capital and have a permanent military guard... Wait. ... oh.... Never mind.

It wasn’t a law. It was a very specific deal he made in order to convert what had been a residence into a club. Even club members are limited to how many nights a year they can stay there.

“WHERE?”

For all your claiming nobody’s got the facts, but studiously avoiding providing any yourself, I’m powerfully inclined to direct you to the nearest mirror.

THAT’S where.

Now. You here to fish, or cut bait?

How would it not be legal?

They don’t stop to think that they are setting a very dangerous precedent that can be used against them as well.

Palm Beach government officials sound like a dreadful bunch.

I cannot imagine having to deal with them after all the awful lies and fraud Trump faced from the Satanic Deep State in Democrat City.

Makes one wonder if the Palm Beach creeps are under pressure or receiving bribes/kickbacks to harass Trump at his home.

What else would motivate their mistreatment and bad behavior with him?

Palm beach county is a Democrat stronghold. City of Palm beach itself even more so. The Democrat county residents are so steeped in Trump hatred they wouldn’t care about any revenue loss.

Television and the education system. And too many mindless parents more interested in gossip, the National Enquirer and People magazine than in guiding their children. Almost impossible to bring sanity back. Trump was successful for a good while but got drowned out by the purposeful china virus and traitors from his own party.

It’s all sour grapes....

On top of the initiation fee of $200,000 plus tax, members also pay $14,000 a year in annual dues (plus tax) to join Mar-a-Lago...

The cheapskates can’t afford the membership, so they cry like stuck pigs.

What you mean is the “News” is trying to avoid printing the truth about the potential stockmarket collapse.

I was reading about the history of the house. Fascinating.

https://apnews.com/article/7e30551e15715cb19a0a0906f407a91d

Seems like some folks in the county may have beef with Trump going back to the 80s and 90s, the lowering of neighboring property values after the Trump purchases, and Trump’s serial litigations around the airport.

It does seem to be the case that Trump was very aggressive and mar-a-logo wasn’t his first choice. He selected it after losing out on other deals. And he wasn’t that bothered by its historical / cultural significance either... He promised to build separate properties on the land (but in the end didn’t) and only negotiated the creation of the club to appease his creditors.

People who think he should bulldoze it... it had already had National Historic Landmark status for 40 years before he bought it.

In that spirit, let’s assume he did enter into a signed legal agreement with neighbors and county in writing to only use the house as a ‘winter White House’ on the basis that he finally realized that the property was so historically, culturally and uniquely valuable that at least some of its original character needed to be preserved.

I bet the local worry has always been that the minute the house becomes nothing more than a a cheap acquisition and fully private residence it’ll be redecorated from floor to Donald Trump’s personal taste, which some think would be as unconscionable as chiselling the beard off the Lincoln Memorial.

That said, it’s his property not the nation’s.

It’s a property that has all the potential to become a national monument as long as he doesn’t mess around with it too much. And if he wants to turn it into a garish gold-leaf vajazzled homage to 70s Shag Palaces instead, he must already expect fierce resistance because he’s been there before.

Sign me up if Trump crashes the surrounding property market, makes all his neighbors loathe him enough to sell up and move on, and I can pick up some nearby prime real estate on the cheap.

I’d even promise in writing to never say anything negative about my opinion on Trump’s taste in décor for Mar-a-Logo after he’s given it a full facelift.
