Democrat Rep. Stephen Lynch has tested positive to COVID-19 after receiving both shots of the Pfizer vaccine.

The 65-year-old Congressman - who represents Massachusetts' 8th Congressional district - tested positive for the virus on Friday afternoon, his spokeswoman told CNN.

Lynch attended President Joe Biden's inauguration last Wednesday, but returned a negative test before that event.

Lynch received his second dose of the Pfzier COVID-19 vaccine prior to the inauguration, but the spokesperson did not disclose the exact date he had the shot.

Pfizer's vaccine does not necessarily prevent COVID-19 infection, but is said to be 95 percent effective in stopping the serious symptoms that are caused by the coronavirus.

-I’m old enough to remember there was a lot of excitement about mRNA as a potential vaccine technology way back in the early 90’s. -

Don’t know anything about the 90s, but as far as I can, a lot of the thinking about the mRNA vaccine (or its invention) for these varieties of covids was a product of the Obama covid of 2012 which used up all of the governments ventilators & stuff (never restocked). All that was necessary to make the vaccine was the genetic information of Covid 19.

The problem is that maybe you can...but aren’t willing to try until you have a kajillion studies proving XYZ

In the meantime...many suffer.

I have a plan. Maybe some of it will work. Maybe none of it will work.

But I will not sit by and idly wait for my body to turn on me in that 7 to 10 day window hoping it doesn’t crash until I get to the ER

Just look at the recent Dr who died after she was released from one hospital and ended up crashing a few hours later and had to be taken to another one. She claimed her lack of treatment was due to racism.

I suspect it is more because of the way some of you think...It’s not proven by XYZ studies so I am not going to try it.

So you don’t die.
Vaccines work.

Tell to this guy who received the Pfizer vaccine!

Health care worker dies after second dose of COVID vaccine, investigations underway
https://www.ocregister.com  | PUBLISHED: January 26, 2021 at 4:44 p.m. | By TERI SFORZA

Tim Zook’s last post on Facebook brimmed with optimism. “Never been so excited to get a shot before,” he wrote on Jan. 5, above a photo of the Band-Aid on his arm and his COVID-19 vaccination card. “I am now fully vaccinated after receiving my 2nd Pfizer dose.”

Zook, 60, was an X-ray technologist at South Coast Global Medical Center in Santa Ana. A couple of hours later, he had an upset stomach and trouble breathing. By 3:30 p.m. it was so bad his colleagues at work walked him to the emergency room. “Should I be worried?” his wife, Rochelle, texted when she got the news. “No, absolutely not,” he texted back. “Do you think this is a direct result of the vaccine?” she typed. “No, no,” he said. “I’m not sure what. But don’t worry.”

[SNIP]

Shortly after midnight on Jan. 7, the hospital called. Zook was in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator to help him breathe. But his blood pressure soon dropped and he was transferred to UC Irvine Medical Center. “On Friday I get a call, ‘His kidneys are failing. He needs to be on dialysis. If not, he could die — but there’s also a chance he might have a heart attack or stroke on dialysis because his blood pressure is so low,’ ” Rochelle Zook said.

By 4 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, Zook had gone “code blue” twice and was snatched back from the brink of death. There was a third code blue in the afternoon. “They said if he went code blue a fourth time, he’d have brain damage and be a vegetable if he survives,” Rochelle Zook said.

Later that day, Tim Zook died.

It was normal behavior, I grew up with it. It worked!

When was this? Smallpox was eradicated in North America and Europe in the 1950's.

Well, yeah, kinda. The vaccines are a step back from the big ambition, but they still represent a major step forward.

“These are not vaccines. Die you say? Sorry, fearful one. The COVID flu has a 99.8 percent survival rate.“

Tough one aren’t you?
I’m sure the docs that post here at FR have treated many like you.
Probability lost a few .
Dumb to ridicule a disease that’s killed so many .
Some people just have to get it to think it’s real .

No I’m not fearful.
I also don’t step in front of trains just to show I’m tough. Don’t need to prove anything . Smart people don’t take foolish chances.

Ever hear of “ threat assessment”? How old are you? What is your health?
If you are under 65, and in reasonable health- get back to work and your life. Besides the virus being 99.8 percent survivable 65 and under, realize the average age of death is mid seventies. If you are over 65 my apologies, if under 65, you are exactly what is wrong with America today.

“He is in the window period where immunity is developing. Additionally while it is 95% effective of preventing disease, it is likely absolutely effective at preventing progression to critical disease.”

Is Pfizer providing you with a monthly stipend, or so much per social media post?

It is unclear why you continue to attack me. Obviously you seem to not wish to deal with the facts, rather smearing people like myself who present actual data.

And the actual and verified data demonstrate a significant drop in infections as time goes on. Number of infections track the placebo group through the first seven days followed by flattening of infection in the experiment group as opposed to the control group. At day 45 there are only 5% infections in the experimental limb as opposed to the control limb. And none of those progressed to severe disease.

These are the data. They are well vetted and confirmed. Moderne 94%. Johnson and Johnson 67%

I can read scientific data and draw a conclusion. It seems you wish by a reject out of hand reproducible and accurate data. This, of course is your judgment but it hardly makes is accurate judgment.

I have learned that when people simply attack the person brining the news it represents a deep anger and lack of feelings of control.

Whatever it is that is vexing you snd causing you to lash out, I will pray for your being at peace and that you learn discernment.

In the meantime I will continue to present data from multiple sources snd refrain from smearing people.

Oh, and to answer your question, I have no interest in Pfizer nor am I paid by them. I do, however, have an interest in upholding the oath I swore to heal and educate.

Blessings on your day.

Hi
I am just now seeing your posts. What do you think of:

The more obesity in a nation the more Covid19 problems they will have. For example, the Japanese live in densely populated cities. Their obesity rates are much lower than ours. They are doing great as far as Covid.
Also higher obesity rates go along with higher diabetes rates and heart problems.

Mexico —high obesity rates and they have Covid problems
Africa— Poor so they are skinny. Minimal Covid problems.

No. That’s not how viral mutations work. Viruses don’t reproduce sexually, so they don’t really interact with other viruses. There’s zero chance that the COVID virus will in any way mutate with Ebola.

Also whether it’s a naturally-occurring virus or an escaped bioweapon is irrelevant. The virus infects its host and reproduces in the same way regardless of its origin. All a virus really is is a strand of genetic material surrounded by some proteins. The proteins provide structural protection and facilitate the injection of the genetic material into a host cell and the incorporation of the viral genetic material into the host cell’s genome. Once that happens the host cell turns into a “virus factory” and it begins synthesis of copies of the invading virus. Mutations can (and do) occur during this process, but unless the cell was already invaded by another virus, such mutations would have nothing to do with other viruses. Since most invaded cells end up rupturing to release the new virus copies, it’s not likely that a previous infection would leave genetic material intact. Only if a person were infected simultaneously with COVID and Ebola could there be any real chance of any interaction. It’s not a realistic chance.

Paradoxically such a virus might be less of a public health issue anyway. A virus that is both highly contagious and highly fatal really would not tend to spread very widely. In order to spread, a virus must have hosts. A successful virus doesn’t kill the host, but rather keeps the host alive to spread it to other hosts. A virus that rapidly kills its host has more difficulty spreading. A highly fatal virus will typically contain itself to a particular geographic area; infected individuals don’t travel elsewhere to spread it before dying.

“Why did a 65 year old Congressman get a vaccine, when 80 year olds cant?

Silly me.
His life is worth more than the 80 year old’s”

I assume your post was misdirected at me. I have posted nothing about the distribution of vaccines to members of Congress.

I am grateful for your continuing education of Freepers. It was you who persuaded me to be unafraid of the new vaccines. Subsequently, I am taking my second Moderna vaccine in 11 days and looked to you for the facts about immunity. Moderna says it will be one week before sufficient immunity protects. I'm not too worried even today because that 1st vaccine gave my immune system such a wallop (exhaustion/no appetite) thus I'm reassured the battle has been waged within and the war is being won!

And happily this citizen blithely will go shopping wherever and whenever I please! Ah freedom!

My wife and I will get our first Pfizer shot tomorrow and later on for the 2nd shot as per their package insert.

That's good. What state are you in?

We're in The People's Republik of Connecticut. Not sure yet when people 70 and under will be getting them here. CT was actually doing pretty well in getting vaccines into arms. Now suddenly everything seems to have slowed down...

How long is that “window period”? We are scheduled for 2nd Moderna tomorrow. Two weeks? Four?

Thanks in advance.
