The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating SpaceX over whether the company discriminates against non-U.S. citizens in its hiring practices and said Elon Musk’s company is stonewalling a subpoena for information, court documents revealed Thursday.
The DOJ’s Immigrant and Employee Rights Section received a complaint of employment discrimination from a non-U.S. citizen claiming that the company discriminated against him based on his citizenship status.

Is there a law of some kind that statutorily demands you hire a non citizen ?
This is Babylon Bee material. Large companies deal with issues like this all the time. Why a cheesy company would publish something like this is the question - Google at it again.
What ever you say Sanjay
We need President Trump now more than ever (sigh). Biden has emboldened our enemies.
I briefly met the investor and listen to him regularly on a local radio show.
Communist democrat low lifes at it again. This will backfire spectacularly. Abusing Elon will blow up in their face like a loaded cigar.
The FAA and now DOJ going after him in the same day.
Reddit warriors and every other attack conceivable to hurt the globalists and the deep state. That’s the order of the day.
Imagine that.
Elon seems to be his own unique person. He has both liberal and some conservative views. He is not a cookie-cutter leftist like most billionaires. At least he thinks for himself.
“The charge alleges that on or about March 10, 2020, during the Charging Party’s interview for the position of Technology Strategy Associate, SpaceX made inquiries about his citizenship status and ultimately failed to hire him for the position because he is not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident,” DOJ attorney Lisa Sandoval wrote in a court document filed Thursday.
It sounds like he isn’t a citizen and is not legally here.
Yes, there is a law that prohibits citizenship discrimination in hiring. You can weed out those not eligible for employment only. Millions of non-citizens are permanent residents and can work in the US.
Yes.
However, the article states ‘he is not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident’. That’s why I copied that section of the article.
Until told otherwise, I’m assuming the person is an illegal alien.
The legal issue is whether the applicant could lawfully be employed. There are various statuses that qualify.
Musk is likely worried about employees stealing confidential information. Here’s a recent case:

And one from last year: “Tesla is doubling down on its claim that Xpeng, a Chinese electric vehicle startup, has stolen and is using its Autopilot source code. Last year, Tesla initiated a lawsuit against Guangzhi Cao, a former Autopilot engineer who quit to join Xpeng’s autonomous driving team....”
SpaceX has numerous US military projects. Employees working on these must pass Background Investigations.
Before an honest judge, Musk wins.
Seems that hiring a non citizen in this type of a very high security type business should be absolutely a NO BRAINER but in this environment I have little hope!! I imagine NOW bringing in NON citizens to STEAL your companies secrets will be A OK, or just simply sabotaging the company!! Give the person a job as a janitor DONE!!!
Bwahahahahahahaha
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that this and the problems with the FAA happened literally days after Biden got in.
Kind of like the timing of the anti-Putin protests. Just a coincidence that it cranks up just as a new administration goes in.
All perfectly organic I’m sure. To suggest otherwise would be to suggest a conspiracy or two and one doesn’t want to be one of those awful conspiracy theorists. Perish the thought.
The applicant is NOT a permanent legal resident.
Deep State just may be fluking with the wrong guy. Elon may just be the guy to unit libertarians, conservatives and level headed millennials to give deep State a lot of s**t.
