A bunch of know-how traders and executives has joined the push to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom, as one investor introduced a gubernatorial bid.
Chamath Palihapitiya, the CEO of Social Capitol and a former Facebook govt, mentioned in a tweet this week that he’s operating for governor as he used a hashtag for the marketing campaign to take away Newsom.
“It’s on,” he wrote.
“California is a mess—it’s too expensive, our teachers are underpaid, and our schools aren’t good enough,” his marketing campaign website says.
As the marketing campaign to recall Newsom gathers increasingly signatures, it has attracted increasingly supporters—together with earlier supporters of the governor.
David Sacks, founding father of the Craft Ventures fund, donated $60,000 to Newsom’s profitable 2018 bid. But he got here out Tuesday in help of Palihapitiya, who he described as a centrist Democrat, telling Bloomberg that Newsom “is totally beholden to special interests.”
Kevin Faulconer, the previous Republican mayor of San Diego, can be mulling a bid. He signed the recall marketing campaign shortly after the New Year, writing on Facebook that “it’s time to start holding the governor accountable.”
Campaign organizers alleged that Newsom lifting the tough stay-at-home order on Monday was completed to attempt to “maintain what grasp he still holds on the state.”
Recall Newsom is getting donations from Silicon Valley. Patricia Perkins-Leone donated $99,800 final month, based on state data. She is the spouse of Doug Leone, managing associate of the Sequoia Capital fund. Additionally, Dixon Doll and his spouse, Carol, have given practically $192,000. Doll can be a enterprise capitalist.
Other massive donors embody the Prov. 3:9 LLC, building firm homeowners Susan and Howard Groff, and the California Revival political motion committee.

Seems a conflict of statement. I have a buddy with a Bachelor’s degree who was teaching 2nd graders in Kali. until Jan. 2020. Had about 20 years in when his personal issues necessitated a slightly early retirement. Final years pay 94k. Those same 94k a year teachers are putting in a couple hours a day of Zoom teaching, if that, now days. JoeK
There will be at least a dozen other candidates who are all going to split the vote and keep Newsom in power.

I disagree. When Davis was recalled and Schwarzenegger elected there were 135 candidates on the ballot. Attention will only go to a handful of front runners. Last time it’s was Schwarzenegger, Tom McClintock ad Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante. The others did not get much attention. I repeat what I’ve been saying: if the recall qualifies for the ballot, Newsom is toast
