“xPDJT was Impeached as President for actions he took as President, therefore he should be tried as President and the Constitution dictates that the CJ preside, not Leaky Leahy.”

I have only one question, since when does the U. S. Constitution mean anything to any democrat?

Of course they’re mystified. They wouldn’t be if they actually read the Constitution every once in a while, but . . .

all Republican Senators should also refuse to be seated. There is nothing the damn democrats could do about it

I believe the 2/3 requirement for conviction is 2/3 of the Senators who are present.

It would be unconstitutional for anyone other than Roberts to preside. Whether a person filling that role could be charged with a crime is another question. Perhaps it would qualify as “abuse of power” and would itself qualify as an impeachable offense. That would be a nice turnaround.

"He is right to avoid it."

I agree, but why doesn't he issue a statement explaining his decision?

"If that is his view and the reason why he declined to preside, then Roberts should say so publicly. To not do so is extremely damaging to the nation and the Constitution he swore to uphold. He is taking the coward’s way out, but then he never has exhibited much bravery in his career on the court."

Ditto.

He told protesters to peacefully and lawfully let their voices be heard.

Here are the two exact phrases from the text of his speech:

we’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them...

[snip]

I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard...

[snip]

So we’re going to, we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I love Pennsylvania Avenue. And we’re going to the Capitol, and we’re going to try and give... our Republicans, the weak ones because the strong ones don’t need any of our help. We’re going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.

So let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue.

-PJ

And strong words from John Cornyn, Texas milk toast Senator. The Senator never misses an opportunity to dodge an issue. He’s another perfect reason for throwing the GOP over the side.

Watch your other online feeds (FB, Tw, etc) for the inevitable regurgitation of DNC talking points about how this clearly unconstitutional Stalin-style show trial — the latest in a continual series — is both legal and justified. We all have friends (alleged friends) and even family members who are nothing but partisan stooges.

There is a reason why the Chief Justice presides when a President is on trial. Otherwise the Vice President would preside, someone with an obvious conflict of interest, since conviction would make that person President. Since Trump is no longer President there is no reason for the Chief Justice to preside. But I don't see why Harris should not preside rather than Leahy.

Of course they should not have the trial because it is nonsense from a constitutional standpoint, and because Trump never did what Pelosi accused him of doing.

Roberts is no “hero” here. He is not doing this over principles, he has NONE!

He’s doing it for his personal reasons AND whoever “controls” him, TOLD HIM TO! More of “the fix is in”.

Give Roberts ZERO credit here. Constitution my @@@! Does Roberts give 2 $$$$$ about the constitution or this country?

The answer to that is NO!

SYJR (Screw you, John Roberts).

So I get why the liberals want to remove Trump from office. They want to give a legal degree of credibility to the scam that put Puppet Master Xoe Biden in office.

* * *

Good analysis. And we still haven’t resolved the question of whether the military is now in control of our government as they occupy D.C. Are we in for more surprises?

Thank you for clearing that up.

I heard most of the speech and don’t recall the exact words. In our age of DoubleSpeak, Lies are Truth, and Truth is Slander. . . and Terrorist talk.

Knowing what Trump actually said also shows the duplicity of Rep McCarthy and Marco Rubio. I’d very much like to see Ivanka take Rubio’s seat in Florida in 2022.

He’s another perfect reason for throwing the GOP over the side.

Let's go back to the advice of George Washintgon who was "First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen"

According to the Example par Excellance

-The Spirit of Political Parties "serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection."

Many people today believe then are smarter than Washington.

Chief Justice John Roberts is gonna be in one heck of a spot when democrats add 12 new commie thug ‘judges’ to the court...and that group decided ‘re-education’ camps and concentration camps are legal...

Anyone else a little surprised Roberts is refusing to preside over the impeachment trial?

It’s almost as if he has a limit to how low he will stoop.. but that can’t be it
