Climate Envoy John Kerry and National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy told reporters in the White House briefing room that oil and gas workers who are laid off as a result of President Joe Biden’s new climate policies will find “better” jobs.
Biden caused widespread layoffs — and potentially tens of thousands of lost future job opportunities — when he revoked the Keystone XL pipeline permit, and suspended oil and gas leasing on federal lands, on his first day in the Oval Office.
Asked by a reporter what their “message” was to workers in the fossil fuel industry, Kerry and McCarthy promised that workers could find new jobs in “green” industries — or that they could benefit from New Deal-style work programs.
Kerry said that President Biden had emphasized the “need to grow the new jobs that pay better, that are cleaner.” He added:
What President Biden wants to do is make sure those folks have better choices, that they have alternatives, that they could be the people who go to work to make the solar panels. …. That is going to be a particular focus of the Build Back Better agenda. And I think that unfortunately workers have been fed a false narrative … that somehow dealing with climate is coming at their expense. No, it’s not.What’s happening to them is because of other market forces already taking place.”
He said that a worker in a BMW plant in South Carolina could build electric engines, rather than combustion engines.
McCarthy mentioned the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a revival of a New Deal-era job program, promising that workers who lived in areas where oil, gas, and coal facilities had closed would be able to find work in their own communities rather than having to move to take advantage of jobs in

I was talking to my equipment financing guy today and he told me that when the 3 pipelines came through Ohio the Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Dealer {Ohio Cat}had over 300 machines on the project.Stop and think about all the jobs these idiots wiped out with the stroke of a pen. I've only been in the field for 40 years with skills writing in 40 common languages hosted on UNIX, Linux, Windows and embedded systems. OS kernels, device drivers, DSP, general apps, GUI and database including web, Qt, X11 and even classic old "curses" full screen character UIs. It's still a tough market with a full toolkit.
I grew up and lived in a PacNW logging town. Loggers and lumber workers were fed the same line after the spotted owl debacle of the 1980s.
Some unemployed $50,000/ year loggers became $5/hour desk clerks at the no-tell motels. Most left for other states and decent wages.

Biden just took away one of their “choices”. The choice to remain gainfully employed in their current profession. Biden and Kerry—neither one has every worked a real job a day in their life. Also, neither has ever built a business on their own which provides others with a job.
They can all get jobs with Solyndra! ...oh...wait..
What they will end up with are buckets and squeegees cleaning solar panels at $7.00 an hour until the operators figure out how to build robots to do it. Karma is a real bear sometimes.
Those workers won’t have to worry about that happening with biden dropping most border controls. They will also have to compete for jobs against the future influx of millions more illegal aliens. Moving won’t help much.
