Climate Envoy John Kerry and National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy told reporters in the White House briefing room that oil and gas workers who are laid off as a result of President Joe Biden’s new climate policies will find “better” jobs.
Biden caused widespread layoffs — and potentially tens of thousands of lost future job opportunities — when he revoked the Keystone XL pipeline permit, and suspended oil and gas leasing on federal lands, on his first day in the Oval Office.
Asked by a reporter what their “message” was to workers in the fossil fuel industry, Kerry and McCarthy promised that workers could find new jobs in “green” industries — or that they could benefit from New Deal-style work programs.
Kerry said that President Biden had emphasized the “need to grow the new jobs that pay better, that are cleaner.” He added:
What President Biden wants to do is make sure those folks have better choices, that they have alternatives, that they could be the people who go to work to make the solar panels. …. That is going to be a particular focus of the Build Back Better agenda. And I think that unfortunately workers have been fed a false narrative … that somehow dealing with climate is coming at their expense. No, it’s not.What’s happening to them is because of other market forces already taking place.”
He said that a worker in a BMW plant in South Carolina could build electric engines, rather than combustion engines.
McCarthy mentioned the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a revival of a New Deal-era job program, promising that workers who lived in areas where oil, gas, and coal facilities had closed would be able to find work in their own communities rather than having to move to take advantage of jobs in

So we are going to destroy an entire segment of the economy for a myth that burning hydrocarbons causes global warming? My theory has been that the oil and gas industry is the whipping boy because it is the largest non-union industry in the nation. There has never been a United Oil Workers union, and if there had been these democraps would be singing a different tune. It also works out that most oil and gas folks are conservative and live in fly-over country. They are going to plunge southern New Mexico back into the generational poverty that oil and gas was just beginning to lift them out of.
Aside from the virtue signaling and PR aspects, oil and natural gas will be with us for a long, long time. Something has to generate the electricity for all those Teslas. There will never be enough wind mills or solar panels to generate the electricity, especially on cloudy, calm days or at night. Everything needs back-up power and it won’t come from wind and solar.
These people are rich elitists without a clue how the real world works. Someone mention clean jobs in a seminar and they think that pays a mortgage.

Next Republican President (if there can ever be one) should sign an executive order just for John Kerry telling him what he can and can’t make money in. No investing, no withdrawing from the bank account, no future government employment, but you can make license plates, but for the Federal minimum wage.

I can easily understand how a freshly unemployed worker, directly put out of work by a EO signed on a whim, having a young family to feed might be motivated to “charge the mound”. These people are evil through and through.
Homeless camps will be in demand. Obviously rental fees will have to be subsidized by the fed gov. Section 8 for homeless campers.
