Climate Envoy John Kerry and National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy told reporters in the White House briefing room that oil and gas workers who are laid off as a result of President Joe Biden’s new climate policies will find “better” jobs.
Biden caused widespread layoffs — and potentially tens of thousands of lost future job opportunities — when he revoked the Keystone XL pipeline permit, and suspended oil and gas leasing on federal lands, on his first day in the Oval Office.
Asked by a reporter what their “message” was to workers in the fossil fuel industry, Kerry and McCarthy promised that workers could find new jobs in “green” industries — or that they could benefit from New Deal-style work programs.
Kerry said that President Biden had emphasized the “need to grow the new jobs that pay better, that are cleaner.” He added:
What President Biden wants to do is make sure those folks have better choices, that they have alternatives, that they could be the people who go to work to make the solar panels. …. That is going to be a particular focus of the Build Back Better agenda. And I think that unfortunately workers have been fed a false narrative … that somehow dealing with climate is coming at their expense. No, it’s not. What’s happening to them is because of other market forces already taking place.”
He said that a worker in a BMW plant in South Carolina could build electric engines, rather than combustion engines.
McCarthy mentioned the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a revival of a New Deal-era job program, promising that workers who lived in areas where oil, gas, and coal facilities had closed would be able to find work in their own communities rather than having to move to take advantage of jobs in

Sure...just tell those pipeline company welders to leave the Dakotas and move to California in hopes of finding a job making solar panels.
ie. unemployment benefits.
Has this man been right on one public issue in 60 years?
I was talking to the owner of a travel trailer campground last summer about the pipeline guys staying in his campground.
The amount of money per hour just to start blew my hair back. I'd be on that like white on rice if I was younger.
You could easily retire after 10-15 years if you wanted to.
Let us screw you now, things will be great in the future.
Let ‘em write code!
RE: workers who are laid off as a result of President Joe Biden’s new climate policies will find “better” jobs.
YEAH? in the meantime, while they’re waiting for this promise, is John Kerry going to help them pay their rents and mortgages?
At least they are not saying how wonderful it is to be unemployed and can pursue hobbies and spend more time with family.
Yet.
I could be wrong but I’d bet that those guys make $40/hr...or more. OTOH,taking empty bottles and cans to the redemption center might bring in $5 to $10 and hour.
Sounds like shovel ready jobs to me. Where have I heard that before?
Good God
The breathtaking arrogance of these two parasites
Don’t worry, you can get a job in a non-existent industry but if you don’t, we’ll come up with some Make Work program to keep you happy until we get out of town?
If they said this to the UAW in 1932, there would have been REAL riots
But we know who the UAW sold out to!
Yeah, they can get Jobs washing Kerry’s Private Jet, at last until all the Illegal Invader Caravan’s arrive and he can get it done cheaper.
Stolen Election or not, tell me how anyone could Vote for these Elitist bastards. We are obviously surrounded by Ignorance and plain Stupidity.
Do Kerry and McCarthy have any idea of how ignorant they sound to anyone who’s spent many years working their way up in the private sector?
(I know they don’t really care about the people they hurt, but you’d think that as pols they’d at least be rudimentarily cognizant of their appearance, to ease their effort to keep a grip on power.)
Do Kerry’s and McCarthy’s kids know how to write code?
They can switch to meaningful jobs in government where the important people are.

Likely to be infrastructure jobs, like building new bridges and tunnels to now-obsolete cities. (Inproving an infrastructure that is now not needed.)
Retraining waiters, chefs, and Broadway actors and musicians to operate heavy equipment is might be difficult.
I’m surprised that McCarthy didn’t mention breadlines, another 1930s era innovation.
These Anuses are total out of touch with working class career pipeline workers.
Government cheese for all!
