That WaPo article earlier in the week probably helped to put a damper on ‘I’. It basically gave a timeline that made it impossible to conclude that Trump’s Jan 6 speech incited anything.

Of course, Dems don’t need evidence anymore this time than they did with the first impeachment. It’s the seriouness of the charge crap, again.
I think the question is - if convicted, will Trump lose his secret-service protection?
But this impeachment can’t stop Trump from being King, right?

Article I, Section 3, Clause 6:
The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.
No president...no trial with a justice...no trial period. They can impeach him until the cows come home, but they can’t convict him of anything they have said. So their “opinion” is nothing more than that. And impeachment means nothing.
The constitution’s framers vested the Senate with this power for several reasons. One is they believed senators would be better educated, more virtuous, and more high-minded than members of the House of Representatives and thus uniquely able to decide responsibly the most difficult of political questions. As George Carlin used to say: "Bipartisan usually means that a larger-than-usual deception is being carried out."
More time to fundraise, of course. It is a done deal (a vote will happen and fall short), but in the meantime many millions will be raised on both sides. They still keep trying to get rid of Trump and keep him from ever participating in Politics again. If God wants him back, he will be back.
And it also means two sets of grubby mitts are reaching for your wallet instead of just one set.

I will admit that I am pleasantly surprised that Pelosi will submit the article on Monday. I was sure she would hold it as leverage.
The sooner the trial, the better.

He should tell McConnell if 17 Senators vote to convict. I’m running as an American Independent in 2024, regardless.
Remember they can vote to keep him from holding political office again, but the Constitution doesn’t say you “can’t run for office again.”
Democrats filibustered every single Trump nominee, to the point where few of the thousands of Senate confirmations got done by the end of four years
Watch Republicans bend over and confirm Democrats with barely a hearing.
He can run again.
He just couldn’t hold the office if he won.
Are there really 17 senators ready to commit suicide? Why bring it unless the conviction was already a done deal?
